I had never seen prairie dogs before, so spotting them for the first time was honestly one of my favorite surprises out here.

They're cute, funny, and constantly popping in and out of their burrows.

But they're also incredibly important to the prairie ecosystem. Their underground tunnels provide shelter for other animals, and their colonies can grow into entire underground neighborhoods.

One thing I learned? As adorable as they are, they're still wild animals. It's best to enjoy them from a distance and let them do their prairie dog things. 🐾

Have you ever seen a prairie dog in the wild?

I was watching dark storm clouds roll across the sky and wondering if we were about to get drenched.

Then the sun came back out like nothing happened.

I ate dinner outside, headed over to listen to our climbing rangers talk about the history and climbing culture around Devils Tower National Monument, and thought the weather had made up its mind for the day.

Nope. 😆

The clouds returned, the rain started pouring on our ride back to the campground, and by nightfall we had front-row seats to an incredible lightning show.

One thing I'm learning while living and working in a National Park, never trust the weather forecast completely. Nature likes to keep things interesting.

A few weeks ago, this would have been impossible. The evenings were still too cold to linger outside for long.

But tonight, the park finally felt like summer.

I climbed onto the roof of my van with dinner, planning to stay up there for just a few minutes. Instead, one thing led to another. First dinner. Then a glass of wine. Then deer quietly wandering past. Birds singing in the distance. Even the occasional airplane crossing the sky.

Before I knew it, I had brought up a blanket and settled in with my Oregon Trail book.

Sometimes I think adventures have to be big to be memorable. But nights like this remind me that some of the best moments happen when you slow down long enough to enjoy where you already are.

Tonight's destination was only one ladder away. 🌙✨

Seven Falls is one of the most famous attractions in Colorado Springs, but it wasn't always easy to visit. The falls have been welcoming visitors since the 1880s and are tucked away inside a 1,250-foot box canyon carved by water over thousands of years.

The waterfall drops 181 feet through seven distinct cascades, which is where it gets its name. Today, visitors can climb 224 stairs beside the falls, explore trails above the canyon, or even take a mountain elevator built right into the rock.

I usually avoid crowded tourist spots, but arriving early completely changed the experience. Quiet trails, rushing water, and a canyon that felt like a hidden garden before everyone else showed up. 🤍

Have you ever visited a place that was so popular you expected to be disappointed... but ended up loving it?

I drove into a small National Park in the middle of nowhere wondering what this summer was going to feel like.

Now somehow… my entire routine happens outside 😆🌲

After work, I usually end up in a hammock reading a book while the sun starts going down. Dinner is outside. Washing dishes is outside too… even when the campground water feels freezing cold on my hands.

The nearest grocery store is an hour away, so every trip into town feels like a mission. I’ve also never let my gas tank get too low before heading back into the park.

And oddly enough… I’ve learned things I never thought I’d need in life. Like how to connect an RV hose 😂

But my favorite part has been how peaceful everything feels out here.

Sometimes after work, I walk around and there’s barely anyone else in the park. Just quiet roads, wildlife, crazy weather, and views everywhere I look while working.

It’s simple. A little messy. Sometimes inconvenient.

But honestly?
It already feels like one of the most unforgettable summers of my life.

You packed your snacks, hiking boots, and camera… but forgot to pack patience.

National Parks are beautiful this weekend because thousands of people care enough to visit them.
But many parks are also understaffed.

A lot of the people helping you today are seasonal workers, tired rangers, or volunteers giving their time simply because they love these places.

Long entrance lines.
Busy trails.
Full parking lots.
Delayed responses.

It’s frustrating sometimes, I know.
But the people working behind the scenes don’t deserve to be yelled at or mistreated because the park is crowded.

So this weekend:
Pack water.
Pack sunscreen.
Pack patience too. 🌲🤍

The parks and the people protecting them will appreciate it.

I thought Badlands National Park was just going to be a quick scenic stop…

But within the first couple of hours, I saw bison everywhere, unexpected wildlife, colorful hills that looked painted, a sunset that didn’t feel real, and wind strong enough to humble me instantly 😭🌬️

This place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible.

Honestly… it felt wild, empty, peaceful, and unreal all at the same time. 🦬

Definitely one of the most surprising places I’ve visited lately.

Lately, this has become my favorite part of the day.

After work, I slow down, cook dinner,, sit under the open sky, and just breathe for a second.

No crowded restaurants.
No rushing.
Just simple meals, quiet evenings, and the kind of peace I didn’t realize I needed.

Living out here in the middle of nowhere somehow makes life feel a little more grounded. 🌄🚐✨

The desert has a funny way of humbling you.

From far away, it can look empty. Harsh. Dry. Silent.

But once you start walking through the canyons… following the water… slowing down enough to notice the small details… you realize there’s so much life hidden inside it.

This place felt unreal. Like stumbling into a secret the desert kept tucked away behind layers of sandstone and time.

Definitely one of those places that reminds me why I keep chasing the unknown.

Spring in the Sawtooths looked peaceful from a distance… until we started sinking hip-deep into snow 😭🏔️

Isaiah drove 1000 miles from Phoenix to Boise in ONE day just for this adventure. Before the chaos, we slowed down in Stanley with hot springs and mountain views… then headed toward Redfish Lake thinking we’d have a simple spring hike.

The deeper we went, the deeper the snow got. Fallen trees everywhere, no visible trail, soaked boots, and enough snow to make us question every life decision. But somehow, the moment those jagged Sawtooth peaks appeared in front of us, all the suffering instantly felt worth it.

And honestly… having Redfish Lake almost completely to ourselves felt unreal. A place packed with people in summer turned into this quiet winter wilderness experience I’ll never forget.

Sometimes the hardest adventures become the best stories later. 🏔️✨
