“King of the woods” Cavas print 30x40- $125.
This wild eastern gobbler didn’t know I was there but he was very photogenic. Lol It’s like he wanted his photo taken. He was strutting his stuff. I like how you can see a lot of colors on his breast feathers while he was puffed out. Very beautiful turkey.
Just a little info: Eastern wild turkeys are large birds. Adult males, called “toms,” can stand up to 2.5 feet tall with an average weight of 18 to 20 pounds. They have dark black-brown bodies, and a long beard of hair-like feathers on their chests. During the breeding season, they have red, blue, and white skin on the heads. Males also make the distinctive “gobble” sound during this time to attract females.
The body feathers of toms are vibrantly colored: iridescent copper, bronze, red, green, and gold. While hens have these same colors, they are significantly dulled and muted which causes the female to appear brown. Gobblers have a beard, which is a cluster of long follicles in the center of their chest that can be an inch to 10 inches long.
