Today I set my camera on a tripod, put on the interval timer, and justā€¦ lived our day.

No posing. No perfect house. No one behind the camera telling us what to do. Just me and my baby boy, exactly as we are right now.

Honestly, these are the photographs I want to remember most.

The messy floors.
The toys everywhere.
The silly moments.
The little hands.
The bare feet.
The way he reaches for me.
All of the ordinary things that somehow become the things I miss the most.

Stop waiting for the right time to take the photos.

This IS the right time. TODAY.
This messy, ordinary, beautiful season youā€™re in the middle of right now.

One day, youā€™ll look back and realizeā€¦

You thought you knew what love was, then there are tiny hands, sleepy mornings, little tiny toes, and a whole new person who somehow makes your heart feel bigger than you thought it could!

This precious couple is having a BABY!!

Thereā€™s something so beautiful about photographing a family in the in-between ā€” before the tiny hands, sleepy snuggles, and a little personality that will soon fill their home. Right now, their baby is still just a heartbeat on an ultrasound- a little face they havenā€™t met, a love they canā€™t quite put into words yet (and probably never will). This little baby is changing everything, already!

I love that theyā€™ll be able to look back at these photos and remember this version of their little family ā€” just the two of them, their sweet pup who is about to become a big brother, the quiet anticipation, and the overwhelming feeling of knowing that their world was about to get a whole lot bigger (and sweeter, of course)!!

Before they knew who you will be, they already love you. The beginning of your story, little one. šŸ’™

What a gift it is to have people to laugh with, memories to make, and a family to come home to. Thereā€™s something so beautiful about simply being together ā€” letting the kids run around, laughing at the little things, soaking up an afternoon without needing it to be anything more.

These seasons go by so quickly, and maybe thatā€™s why the seemingly ordinary moments are some of the most worth remembering.

Just a family enjoying their life together. What a blessing. šŸ¤Ž

Donā€™t. Even. Try. šŸ˜‚

Let them run! Let them be weird!!! Let them have big feelings. Let them be little! Some of my favorite photos happen in the moments when nobody is ā€œbehavingā€ perfectly.

Iā€™ll take the chaos, the cuddles, the silly faces, the wild kids-all of it. Thatā€™s real lifeā€”and thatā€™s the stuff youā€™ll actually want to remember. šŸ¤Ž

POV: You booked a maternity session and got a running commentary from my brain šŸ˜‚ soooo random! (This is why I rarely take behind the scenes footage because itā€™s so cringy to me) šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

If youā€™ve ever wondered what Iā€™m actually like behind the cameraā€¦ this is pretty much it. Random thoughts. Constant encouragement. Me getting way too excited over good light. Probably saying, ā€œOkay waitā€¦ THAT was so cute. Do that again.ā€ Over and over and of course saying ā€œyaā€™llā€ a lot too (canā€™t take the Denton out of the girl)šŸ¤£

The best part? They invited me for coffee afterward, so I guess I passed the vibe check hahahaha
