Like old school GEs? Check out this scene from 2012! Two of Minnesota Commercials classic GEs, lead by the 48, clamor over the diamond at New Brighton. They had just picked up their cars from the CN, and were heading back to their yard in Saint Paul. With newer T4 locomotives arriving soon, scenes like this might be a thing of the past!

-Saint Paul Transfer-

On a warm, clear September evening, two Soo Line SD60s lead the Saint Paul Transfer up to the Minnesota Commercial. Trailing behind the 60s, were a rebuilt GP40X, and Soo GP38-2. With the conductor on the front of the 6038, the crew was more then ready to depart! These were some great times to be a railfan. In just a few short years, this would all be but a memory.

Imagine seeing this in 2026! Looking back to this day in 2011, we'll see the daily Saint Paul Transfer departing from Saint Paul Yard with four GP38-2s. While three were in Soo paint, the second one was former Soo as well, having gotten Canadian Pacific colors two years earlier. This train sounded GREAT storming Shortline Hill, and had a great crew too. Today, nearly ALL Soo Line power has been repainted, and scattered all over on the CPKC.

Who else misses seeing things like this!? Back on April 12th, 2012, THREE matching IC SD70s found their way to New Brighton on train L506. While duos of IC power happened now and then, I recall this being the ONLY time three of them made a trip here. Most of the IC SD70s are now sitting in deadlines.

On this day, back in 2009!! Something I never thought I'd see come down to New Brighton, a DM&IR SD38-2. It was seen backing down the west wye as it put the Commercials cars away. This power still exists, but wears CN colors, and is captive to Proctor, MN.
