People are like trees. On the surface they can seem like they are confident, flourishing, and have a strong sense of self and conviction. However planted firmly in the ground, you can be rotting from the inside out, while everyone around you is none the wiser. Self doubt, hate, and regret destroy the core of your being. You can also be so shallow with your thoughts and beliefs that when a strong wind comes, you fall right over. The trees that survive, bend and don't break in a storm. They don't run away, they don't attack. They know who they are, root to leaves; which are both constantly growing and changing, but they remain the same tree. They are only stronger when growing aside one another and their roots intertwine. They help eachother from falling over. We can learn a lot from trees, can't we? @ Plotter Kill Preserve

The end of an era

"We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this."
Never forget that everything has a price and that freedom is never free. The freedoms we exercise daily were bought with the lives of selfless men and women who have served our country. Today we remember and honor the fallen, as well as their family members left behind.
