This was a trip I took through my university! It was an absolutely blissful ten days and I had much fun photographing all of these amazing structures and landscapes!

I see all these things as artistic, charcoal on fingers, the Sistine Chapel, old movies, and doodles. The Psalmist, David asked God to; "Create in me a clean heart…" He wanted God to take his disheveled life and make it clean. I see God’s cleaning of our hearts, as an artistic creation too. This series of photographs symbolizes a similar type of cleaning. I often find myself wondering what a person’s past holds. For this series I have recorded four people telling me about their past. Just as each person has told me about how their past affects their present, each photograph visually symbolizes how that person’s past affects their present. To relay this affectation visually, I have separated and laterally shifted the color layers in each photograph so that the two layers visually collide the same way that the sitter’s past and present have collided to make them who they are now. As you can hear in the accompanying audio clip, each person, when telling their story recounts how they made a conscious choice to start viewing their situation from a Biblical perspective. In a similar way, each beholder of these photographs can choose to view the work with or without 3D glasses. The image will be difficult to read without the glasses but by looking through them, each beholder of my work can see the image more fully, in focus and in the third dimension. I liken this to seeing life through a Biblical perspective. My work can still be perceived without the 3D lenses but the overlap looks only like chaos without that clarifying aid.
