Held by Evening
I took a quick stroll through the garden the other day and was completely taken by this gorgeous anemone. I had no idea anemones could have petals like this, and this was the only flower on the plant that looked this way.
Of course, I immediately grabbed my phone and took a quick photo before moving the plant to a spot where I knew the evening light would be beautiful.
What I wasn’t prepared for was what happened when I looked through the viewfinder.
The background had transformed into a wash of color that felt more like a painting than a photograph. The blues, golds, and soft greens seemed as though Mother Nature had taken a brush and blended them together just for this moment.
I stayed outside far longer than I intended, moving from one side of the flower to the other, waiting for the light to shift and change. Every few minutes it revealed something new.
It was one of those evenings that reminds me why I love photography so much. Sometimes all you have to do is slow down and pay attention, and the garden gives you a gift.
