On Saturday, November 27th, I will have a booth at the Coastal Christian School craft fair on 574 N Nobleboro Rd in Waldoboro and will be selling off my inventory of prints, framed prints, notecards, gallery wraps, curved metal prints and more. at prices less than cost. I've come to the conclusion that the retail business is not for me, so I'm cleaning house so I can rediscover the joy of just trying to capture the beauty of our world. In the future, I will explore new ways of being able to make that art available. Come see me tomorrow from 9 am to 2 pm and pick up some great Christmas gifts at great prices.

A name has been chosen! Drumroll please…

The name for my new custom printing business will be Breck's Lane Custom Printing. I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful suggestions. There were several I really liked, but found they were either already trademarked or the domain names (and ones similar) were taken. In the end, I agonized and over thought as I am prone to do until my husband half-jokingly suggested Breck’s Lane. You see, we have a street sign that says Breck’s Lane that my husband somehow obtained over 40 years ago. We’ve often talked about putting it at the bottom of our driveway, and now we just might.

Because I did not choose any of the many names suggested by all of you, I assigned a number to everyone who made a suggestion and had a random number generator choose one to receive a free mug of their choice. I did the same with those who had shared the post. The winners of the free mugs are Lorna (for suggesting a name) and RaZella (for sharing the post). Congratulations!

I think I led us all down the wrong path for naming my new business - there have been many clever and descriptive names suggested, but many of them have been limiting in scope. Either the names have been too feminine - hence not the name of a business men would be drawn to, or too precise - as in evoking memory preservation, but leaving out other business possibilities such as fundraisers and business logos. I ultimately see my business filling the needs of those looking for custom gifts, vacation souvenirs, fundraising products, and also advertising products. Consequently, I'm wondering if I should go for a more mundane name such as New Harbor Custom Imprints. I'll keep this naming contest open for another 24 hours to see if you have any other more generic names that are memorable, and then I will make my decision. :) Thank you for all the creative thought you have put into this!

As some of you know - I am in the process of launching a new business doing custom imprinting of photos (and more) on mugs (doing this now) and other metal, porcelain, glass, wood products and more. (beginning some time in 2019). I am stuck on coming up for a name for this business - I've had lots of ideas, but everything I've come up with is already in use. I'm looking for suggestions and, if I go with your suggestion I'll ship you two mugs of the design of your choice (your photo or mine - shipping in USA only). A second chance to win a mug will be mentioned at the bottom of this post.

The perfect name for my business will:
1. evoke the emotion you feel as you reflect on happy family memories, or the pride you feel in having accomplished something (or seeing your children accomplish something)
2. be available as a .com web address and page (you can check the availability of a domain name at domains.google.com
3. not be in general use elsewhere and does not include my name and probably not the name "Maine" as it might limit the perception of the business.
4. could be a real name or word(s), or could be a made up word - feel free to explain your thoughts
5. Do not limit things to mugs or other items.
6. ultimately has to be one I fall in love with

Put your suggestion in the comments below. The first person to suggest a name will be credited with that name and have the chance to win two mugs if that name is chosen.

My new display panels are all set up and ready to display my photography at the Coastal Christian School craft fair on the North Nobleboro Road in Waldoboro from 9-2 tomorrow. The display will be full of prints and gallery wraps, while the table will be covered in cards, calendars, more prints, and gifts. Come on down and browse through all of the vendors.

As of today select pieces of my photography are offered for sale at the Blue Yonder Coastal Artisans shop located at the Knox County Regional Airport in Owls Head. They have wonderful locally crafted jewelry and gifts. Stop in any day from 9:30 to 3 pm. They are open until Christmas and then will be closed until sometime in February.

There are 8 designs to choose from - see the attached graphics. All are blank inside and all come with envelopes. The cards have been professionally printed on matte-finish cardstock. I will have calendars, note cards, small and large canvas prints, aluminum prints, and various size matted and unmatted prints for sale.
