The girls sectional was immediately followed by the boys this morning. Lots of local talent was on display at the Hanover College course.

Austin came away winning the sectional championship with Madison placing second.

Once upon a time, I enjoyed running… now I get tired just watching! I do admire the mental makeup that these young athletes possess. It takes a lot to push through the pain and finish the race!

Southwestern’s girls X-C won their third consecutive section championship today, paced by Harper Green. Madison’s girls placed second, with Switzerland County’s girls placing third. A few of the Lady Pacers that ran had a regional soccer championship game three hours after their race(they won btw, congrats Lady Pacers Soccer)!

Apologies! I almost completely forgot about posting the Madison Football Program’s highlights from their 21-7 dub over Corydon Central. Also, senior shoutout to #7, Izik Roberts. Watch how this young man runs the ball. He can play on any field that I’ve ever stepped foot on and I hope he gets an opportunity to showcase his abilities at the next level. He’s been fun to watch and is electric on both sides of the ball.

The Madison Cubs Soccer Program faced the Lawrenceburg Tigers in the sectional championship game last night in Lawrenceburg. This was a very even match against a familiar foe, with neither program scoring in the first half.

At the start of the 2nd half, the hurricane rain really settled in and the Tigers were able to take advantage by getting on the board first.

The match continued with some great ball movement and runs from both programs, but not much in terms of scoring and very limited opportunities.

Finally, Madison broke through with seven minutes remaining on a header from Williams Overpeck, thanks to a cross by Henry Schmidt.

The Cubs had taken over the momentum and it felt like they were going to find a way. However, Lawrenceburg struck with 1:33 to play and Madison just wasn’t able to bounce back.

Another outstanding season by the Cubs came to a close. Madison finished 14-4-1 and will lose several key contributors to this year’s team. That being said… the Cubs are bringing up an absolutely loaded 8th grade class. I’ve enjoyed watching these guys compete for several years now and wish them luck in their next chapter!

The Madison Football Program hosted the Corydon Panthers last night at Cub Field for Senior Night.

Madison got the scoring started when Izik Roberts broke five or six tackles on his way to 22 yard run for six. The Cubs took a 7-0 lead into the break before the Panthers scored in the third to even things up.

Madison jumped back out in front when the Copeland brothers connected on a fourth down conversion for a 30 yard touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Brody Copeland would go onto find Bryson Copeland on a go route to take it down to the goal line, setting up Brody for a score on the keeper. Wyatt Overpeck nailed each of his PATs.

Madison evened up their record at .500 with a 21-7 Cub Dub, bringing them to 4-4 on the season and 2-4 in the MSC.

I shoot a lot of video, but will snap a few shots here and there when I can. Here’s what I got from the game. I added a few of the people that do a lot of work behind their lenses.

The Madison Cubs Soccer Program faced Switzerland County in their sectional semifinal matchup this evening in Lawrenceburg. Madison moves onto the sectional championship game this Saturday with a 3-0 shutout over the Pacers.

The Cubs got the scoring started with a free kick off the leg of Henry Schmidt to put them ahead with about 11 minutes to go before the half. Then almost immediately afterwards, Patrick Stewart had a breakaway score, giving the Cubs a 2-0 lead. Madden Peelman put an exclamation mark into the net with about 14 minutes remaining in the match to stamp it at 3-0.

The Cubs move to 14-3-1 and will look to get some revenge from their regular season loss against the Tigers in the championship game on Saturday.

If you can, make the trip to catch these guys in action. You won’t be disappointed. The Cubs are a balanced team and very well coached. Fun bunch to watch!
