As I sit here in the emergency room, exhausted, but still awake because I think about all the times my mom was there for my sisters and I throughout our childhood and I am so grateful for her. When you're sick, your mom just gets it, she knows what to do. Moms possess an instinct that is like no other.
The comfort I would feel knowing she was there to advocate for my well being. I felt safe and taken care of. That sense of security allowed me to drift off to sleep... even in a cold, awfully lit ER room. I can see that I am that security for my daughter and it warms my heart and gives me the fuel to stay awake.
Sitting on the "mom side" of the situation is so tough! No sleep, tons of worry, trying to stay calm through the bouts of cries/pains of your child, staying alert enough to talk to every hospital staff that must see you and ask the same questions before the doctor actually comes in... and comforting your kiddo when they "just want to go home".
π Thank God for all the mamas! π
