The cost of insulin is criminal.
Because the algorithm on my pump is so good I’m using more insulin. I discovered that I had enough for one maybe two reservoirs. I emailed my endo and she put in an adjustment to my Rx. I called the pharmacy for a status since this is pretty much an emergency.
The pharmacy ran the change and it was denied. The message was something exceeding the limit. After calling the insurance company I did get it approved.
It’s a good thing. Since I was stressed out and couldn’t really wait I asked the pharmacy what the retail cost would be. I figured I could just put it on my FSA card.

I asked the person on the phone what the retail cost was. Before she told me the cost you could hear the gasp. The retail cost for probably 3 boxes of insulin to get me to the 15th was $11K. That’s right my friends, $11,000 dollars.
We need way better prescription prices in this country. All politicians are at fault here. I will give a pass. He actually went to Canada with some and appalled at the cost differences.
