As many of my friends know ,I got my big break in concert photography from This amazing guy Iam Tongi along with his family and American Idol for allowing me to cover his first American Idol winning tour stop and multiple other performances after. But i was blessed to get this video upon Iams bands request from the September 11th memorial performance in Virginia beach Virginia at the 17th stage years ago. I have no words for how incredibly talented Iam Tongi is and the wealth of musical knowledge he has. Its unreal to see in person and to watch how his mind works and the ability to just quickly hear a song from any genre and perform it instantly. So incredibly proud of this guy.
I had almost forgotten about this clip until this morning but its Iam performing James Blunts hit Monsters which was instrumental in getting Iam onto American Idol and the viral videos that followed.

There was something fascinating about photographing the Michael Jackson MJ Illusion Tour at the Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia. For a couple of hours, everyone in the room — photographers included — willingly suspended disbelief the same way you would during a magic show. The crowd wasn’t focused on whether this was an illusion… they were focused on the feeling, the music, the movement, and the memories that Michael Jackson’s performances created for generations of people who came.

That’s what made the name “The Illusion” feel so fitting. The talent, choreography, energy, and attention to detail from everyone involved were incredible and a perfect recreation of the 1992 Illusion tour. You could watch the audience slowly let go and just enjoy the experience as if they were witnessing something impossible become real for a moment. Honored to spend the night behind the lens with doom metal powerhouse Legions of Doom opening for the legendary Pentagram at Super Rad Arcade. Getting the chance to capture the raw atmosphere and crushing energy of this band live was incredible, but being able to speak to and get some solo shots for Karl Agell made the night even more unforgettable.
The intensity, the shadows, the volume, and the history in that room felt like classic metal brought to life. Huge thanks to Legions of Doom for trusting me to document the night. Super Rad Arcade Bar Legions Of Doom

I totally missed this shot until i went back through a second time looking. This young guy on his Dads shoulder was so awesome. He was trying to get Zakk Wylde attention in The Salem Civic Center so hard. If anyone knows who this is please tag them or let them know i have a few shots. There are moments in music that go beyond a concert and become something you carry with you forever. Having the honor of photographing Zakk Wylde during both Zakk Sabbath and Black Label Society at the Salem Civic Center was one of those nights.
The entire arena was fired up all evening, but everything changed the moment Zakk began performing his new tribute song dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne following his recent passing. The room that had been roaring all night suddenly fell completely silent. Thousands of people stood still, hanging onto every note as emotion filled the building. You could see tears forming in the eyes of fans throughout the crowd while Zakk poured every ounce of grief, respect, and love into his guitar.
As a photographer, you chase moments that tell a story. This was more than photography — it was witnessing a shared moment of loss, tribute, and the power music has to unite people. I had the amazing honor of seeing and getting photos of Gabriel McNair while performing with Rome Ramirez on his solo tour. Gabriel is an incredibly talented multi instrumentalist that has performed with and a member of No Doubt, Oslo , Green Day, Shirley Manson of Garbage as well as scoring and performing for film and animation. Absolutely amazing guy.
