For months, a German Shepherd was spotted wandering through the streets of Detroit, often in rain and freezing cold. Her name was Nikki, and she was always seen carrying the same stuffed animal in her mouth, never letting it go.
Neighbors noticed she had no collar, no clear destination, and no one looking for her. What stood out most was how tightly she clung to that toy, as if it were the last connection to the life she once had.
Rescuers later learned that Nikki had lost her owner, and the stuffed animal was likely the only source of comfort she had left during her time on the streets.
