Celebrating International Womenβs Day by honoring the first international women I ever knew ππ«ΆπΌ
Decades ago, for 3 years and 1 day (1959-1962), my grandparents, mom, and aunts lived an adventurous life in Japan, that they never stopped telling the story of. And Iβm absolutely certain they only survived because of my grandmother Bette βGinGinβ Perry.
Nearly everything Iβve ever learned about life & love, the heart & mind, pain & strength, challenge & perseverance, is thanks to powerful women.
To all the family, friends, partners, colleagues and clients that have shaped and continue to shape this reality - Thank You ππΌπ to all the personally known folk and strangers too, every woman in every walk of life, none of any of this world works without you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being. Thank you for the gift of existence and for giving it meaning. β€οΈβπ₯
For all the ways women continue to have to strive for equality, overcome systems and environments built to oppress them, heal from what men do and have done for all time - Iβm sorry. And personally, Iβm sorry for the moments throughout life when Iβve been more a part of the problem than the solution. You deserve our best. Full stop. Cuz the world already wonβt accept anything less from you.
Celebrate the women in your life. Tell your mom you love her.
