I’m going to miss my friend Mohammed Barki.
He was incredibly sweet and kind to me and my crew. After I had the pleasure of directing him this past season on House Of David, he gave me one of the kindest compliments I’ve ever received. A week later, he asked someone for my WhatsApp, and he sent me a text asking to be a text pal. It was such a sweet gesture. From then on we texted about movies, life, and family. He was my gpen pal. He asked me to watch the movies he had directed and asked me to tell him what a thought. I only found out through the process that he was an incredibly highly regarded director in Palestine and his work was moving and undeniable. Asking me my opinion was
Mohammed was the rare kind of person who didn’t just talk about love—he lived it. Fully. Quietly. Generously.
I’m really going to miss our text conversations.
