I could not be more excited about shooting my first project. I am grateful to + for advocating for me to be selected to shoot the gallery for
I recently saw a screening of this film thanks to , and it is a beautiful movie. What was even more impactful to me was the story of creating this film. This film was written 27yrs ago. To have the patience, to wait that long to make something. The perseverance to overcome the challenges and roadblocks that happen and push through them all to see what you dreamed of come to life is powerful. Mr. Perry's focus and ability to ignore all the noise is a life lesson I am working to embody. "By the time you get to the destination all that noise none of that matters" ~Tyler Perry

A few months ago, I received a call from Paramount asking if I'd be interested in shooting the Key-artwork for starring + . Of course, I was excited about the opportunity, and then came the twist from the client. I would need to shoot Gaten in NY and Angourie in LA, which I thought no big deal. I've photographed talent plenty of times where they are not together and then comped together in the final image. Still, this time they wanted the talent to be physically interacting with one another. Thankfully I had a fantastic team in NY and LA to ensure we captured the image the client needed to create this final piece. Ignition did an incredible job creating the final artwork together.

It is not every day you get to work with a true icon. A few months ago, I had the chance to shoot for . The best part of my remote shoot with for was 5yrs ago we shot probably for the same amount of time (10mins) and she remembered me. I love when I get to work with talented people who are also genuine. Watching Andra’s career continue to ascend has been inspiring and shooting her after these years of growth was special. This recent project I shot for has become one of my favorite shoots ever. The challenge was to have a remote portrait studio for creators. I had seen several remote shoots and I wasn’t inspired to do one until challenged me to push myself and do one for the festival. After seeing the work created from his home in Paris I was all in to push myself. And the results surprised me what you are able to create remotely. This shot of was in his hotel room in Scotland on a gloomy grey day against a door. He was by himself using an . I was directing and controlling his phone while he was holding the phone with the hand you don’t see in the frame. He couldn’t see me while we were shooting and could only follow the directions I was giving.

It still does not feel real and I’m looking for the right words to say. I lost my Grandmother this morning and I know she is in a better place. Lost is never easy for me to deal with but I know it is a part of life. I love you grandma and I hope you are at peace now. Losing both grandmothers in 2 months is unthinkable to me. I am holding on to the fact they were always by my side on earth and will now be angels by my side in Heaven.

I thought it would be valuable to share a conversation I had with an amazing creative, Marcus Smith. I had the chance to speak with him about his incredible creative journey as a freelance photographer. He has worked with several iconic brands in his 7year career; Nike, Adidas, Apple, ESPN, Reebok, GQ just to name a few. Art has always been a part of his life, but photography was not something that he even knew could be a career until after he had already graduated from undergrad with a degree in business. His mother being one of the strongest influences in his life gave him the confidence to go against what most people expected of him, and now he has already built a career many people aspire for.
