Meet Tori Dickson: Portrait & Product Photographer

Shoutout LA was kind enough to share a little interview with me! It feels strange to share so many thoughts so publicly but I’m trying this thing I keep hearing about called confidence.

https://shoutoutla.com/meet-tori-dickson-portrait-product-photographer/

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Dickson and we've shared our conversation below. Hi Tori, how do you think about risk? There’s a lot of risk involved when pursuing a creative career, big and small, from sharing your work with a dream client to quitting your day job or moving to a

I had too much fun on this Pride themed shoot. Pride is truly the greatest reason to make some colorful images and I am very excited to be sharing them. It is so important to me, especially as a photographer and artist to create spaces everyone can be exactly who they are and find joy in it. Happy Pride everyone! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎

ATTENTION MOVIE LOVERS!! My favorite subscription, FilmStruck, a partnership between TCM and Criterion Collection, is ending! When WarnerMedia, who owns TCM partnered with AT&T, they decided the “niche” service wasn’t turning enough of a profit. This is a huge snub to the history of film, something that has only continued to die out with the growth of streaming services and the closing of independent theaters everywhere. There is, however, A PETITION to keep this incredible subscription service. The likes of Guillermo del Torro and Bill Hader have signed and you should too! And then, of course subscribe! Don’t let art and history fade any more please. Link in my bio.

In the Shadow of Chris Cornell's Death, Seattle Warmly Embraces Fleet Foxes' Homecoming Show

Covered the Fleet Foxes homecoming show at the Showbox Presents this weekend for The Stranger. My photos look real good with the review here:

"...Fleeting Foxes?" puzzled the big man at security outside the Showbox. "Naw, I never heard of 'em, either," he finished with a laugh. Nice guy. But his job obviously didn't take him just 20 yards or so north, and east, where the crowd bracketed the block for two hours, at least, before the doors…

One of the most gratifying feelings as an artist is seeing your work in print. Be sure to pick up the June issue of Seattle Met Magazine to see some rad photos and read about the founders of TomboyX.

You gotta check out the rad photo sesh I had a while back with The Dee Dees at Darrell's Tavern. These women pay tribute to 70's punk rockers, The Ramones in the best way and look good doing it.

Call To Action

I've decided to use my blog not just for new work but also to talk about my thoughts on photography and related things that are important to me. This post is important to me.

http://www.toridickson.com/blog/2017/1/24/call-to-action

Things are getting crazier by the minute in the world. While it’s scary, it’s also exciting. It’s a time for change. We’re making history right now and we’re all a part of it wether we like it or not. This last year I’ve thought a lot about my place in all of it.

Made some product photography for a local company called Herbivore Botanicals. Check it out on my blog!

http://www.toridickson.com/blog/2016/10/1/herbivore-botanicals

I did some product work for a local Seattle company a few weeks ago. Herbivore Botanicals makes high end, all natural and beautiful body products. They handed me some of their best selling products and said "Do whatever you want!" While it can be a little intimidating and terrifying when clients do…

Nick Waterhouse at Neumos

Another blog post is up! My photos from the Nick Waterhouse show at Neumos for NadaMucho.com.

http://www.toridickson.com/blog/2016/10/1/nick-waterhouse-at-neumos

One of my favorites played Neumos last week. It's been a while since I've shot a show but I couldn't resist Nick Waterhouse, a master of vintage psych/soul sounds. I had seen him before but not with my camera. His soulful sounds and sultry stage presence needed to be visually captured. He has a new…
