It's always exciting to find a blue ring octopus on a dive. On this particular trip to Anilao, we found them on multiple dive sites. They are tiny and beautiful, but don't get too close. They have a deadly bite.

Another fun dive where all the fish were sleeping on the bottom in the sand. Thank you to SEASICK PRODUCTIONS and Evan Sherman for creating a fun group of people to dive with and keeping us all in line!

It was a super fun day today playing with sea lions all day. These guys were super playful, tugging on our fins, hugging us with their flippers. What beautiful conditions as well! Clear, warm water and silversides schooling all around. La Paz does not disappoint.

This is an amazing wreck called the "Upright Wreck" named for obvious reasons. It sits nearly vertically in about 90 feet of water with the bow just under the surface. Thank you to Solomon Master Liveaboard and Brian, a great dive guide and model for your patience!

I did a little traveling early in the year and then got so busy I couldn't find time to process the images. This is one of the images from the incredibly biodiverse Raja Ampat, where I would spend the rest of my days diving if I could.

Wow! I am thrilled to see my reef image featured in the window of the Blancpain boutique in London and on the big screen at Piccadilly Circus. A big thank you to Oceanographic Magazine and OPY for a wonderful evening and for the recognition.

One of the great things about Raja Ampat, Indonesia is the fish. It may surprise some of you land lovers that lots of fish are not a common sight on many dives. Always, when we encounter large schools of fish we come up from the dive saying "that was epic!" or "what a great dive!" When you have the opportunity to explore under the sea you experience an "awakening" to this amazing resource and how precarious its future is.

Some places, like Misool in Raja Ampat are protected from over fishing and the success of these protections is evident in healthy eco systems like you see in this picture. It's the kind of thing that drives underwater photographers and scuba divers to get in the water again and again. We are always searching for beautiful scenes with a healthy fish population.

A cute bug eye squat lobster peeks out of his hidey hole in Anilao, Philippines. Next year's underwater photography workshop is open for guests now. Would you like to join us? This is my favorite trip each year and will be my 16th trip to Anilao. I hold the workshops at Crystal Blue Resort with Mike Bartick. The two of us will give you lots of coaching on underwater photography, but even if you are a seasoned photographer, it is an excellent opportunity to get in a LOT of photography with other photographers who share your passion. Feb 15-25, 2025. You can get more information here: www.waterdogphotographyblog.com/travel-and-workshops/anilao-philippines

I had a few moments on a layover to process a few images from my last trip. This was one of those rare "spectacular" dives that you get when all the stars align. It's the thing that keeps you going back over and over again for more. Huge schools of fish, all the corals open and feeding, a beautiful calm surface and bathtub warm water. What more could one ask for?

I have always loved lion fish. They've got a bad reputation for invading the Caribbean, but this one lives in its natural habitat in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The island had a small overhang above the water line and provided a nice dark frame for the fish inside of Snell's Window.
