Greene is a freelance artist based in South Central, Los Angeles who specializes in the disciplines of filmmaking, directing, photography, and creative design. The title A FigxWest Production was inspired by late friend and fellow artist Vance Byrd, who she often collaborated with as a teen. It is short for Figueroa Street and Western Avenue.
Why South Central? Our mission is to show a side of
South Los Angeles, along with the communities within, that people are not very familiar with. We would like to change how the community is portrayed in mainstream media. With the use of photographs and filmmaking that produces visuals to portray the realism of what we call everyday life, as well as break the stigmas society has created on what it means to be from the "inner city." The majority of the locations we shoot at are located in this area. Our overall goal is to create a new streamline of Multimedia Productions for years to come. This community is filled with a lot of culture and richness but there is also a lot of underlying pain. It is our hope that our creations can provide an outlet for that pain and somehow assuage it.
