Hello everyone!! Sarah Suzor and I are super excited to announce an upcoming Salt Lake City shoot. We have 12 slots available between two days, Saturday 7/20 and Sunday 7/21 at the very awesome Full Circle Yoga studio on Main St. Anyone interested in posing should contact me to schedule a time. You can reach me here on FB, a via email ([email protected]).

We will also be having a small reception Friday night, also at Full Circle Yoga, from 8:00 - 10:00. In addition to wine and general camaraderie with other participants and supporters of our project, Sarah Suzor will be doing a live poetry reading alongside a slideshow of my images. We understand that right now, all of you amazing women who have participated so far, are existing in a vacuum with only your own images. Unless you attended our TedX salon last July, you probably don't really have an idea of the bigger picture like Sarah and I do. We really just want to share that with you all, and celebrate where we are at this stage of the project.

For more information on our project, visit www.sarahandmelissa.com

Please feel free to tag and/or share this post with those you think might be interested in posing, or just supporting! The reception on Friday 7/19 will be a lovely way to check it out :)

Hi all! poet Sarah Suzor and I are super stoked about our up-coming Los Angeles shoot this weekend! It's happening Saturday and Sunday 3/23 an 3/24. We are also having an intimate get together here at my studio in DTLA Friday 3/22 from 7:00 - 9:00. There will be wine, music, and camaraderie amongst some of the gals who've posed thus far, are going to pose, or are just general supporters of this special project of ours.

As far as this weekend's shoot goes, we still have some slots available between the two days.

For this collaborative project which combines Sarah Suzor's poetry and and my photographs, we have focused on the theme, The Feminine. We have set out to explore what it means to be feminine, and celebrate what that means in our world today.

There are two parts to the photography part of the shoot. One is clothed as each woman feels she looks her best, whatever that means to her. Then she has to shower and wash it all away and do a n**e version. Each subject will also be interviewed by the fabulous Sarah Suzor for the poetry part.

We had the most incredible experience of presenting our project at a Ted-X salon in Pasadena last July. The response was emotional and joyous and so full of love and support! We are on to something here that continues to evolve and resonate with all kinds of women.

If anyone is interested in posing this Saturday 3/23 and Sunday 3/24, contact me via fb message, email ([email protected]) or via phone.

A Colorful Black And White | m. kobe photography

New blog post from a super awesome job for Insomniac Games. Amazing backdrop and views, circus performers and ghosts. It doesn't get much better than that.

http://mkpblog.com/2018/12/a-colorful-black-and-white/

Insomniac Games is one of my favorite clients. They regularly throw BITCHIN’ parties and events curated by one of my favorite people on the planet, Jill at MHP Events. My only direction is to shoot all the radness and fun. It’s seriously the best.

A Big Hit | m. kobe photography

New blog post! I heart the Pasadena PAL and you should too. Check them out guys, after you read the post of course!

http://mkpblog.com/2018/10/a-big-hit/

This year’s Pasadena Police Activities League’s annual Golf Classic was a big hit… Figuratively that is. Literally, there were a few ALMOST big hits. Greg Williams from The Berns Team foursome, was mere INCHES away from getting a hole-in-one.

Hi all! Sarah Suzor and I are super stoked about our up-coming Salt Lake shoot this weekend! 7/14 and 7/15 at Full Circle Yoga in downtown. We have approximately 11 slots available between the two days.

Sounds of Young America | m. kobe photography

New blog post! Can you believe it guys? It's been so long! I will be getting back to a regular blog posting schedule, starting with this one for the Pasadena Police Activities League.

http://mkpblog.com/2018/03/sounds-of-young-america/

The Pasadena Police Activities League, (PAL), held it’s 16th annual Golden Badge Awards Dinner last week at Noor in Old Town Pasadena. The event’s Motown theme created the perfect backdrop to joyfully celebrate all the good the PAL community does… And Jill at MHP Events HOOKED THE EVENT UP. Li...

PHOTO BLOCK!

I am selling these custom photo blocks I had made to showcase pics of mine. It's basically a vanity project to display some of my favorite art-y pics that would otherwise just collect dust in a computer somewhere. But don't stop there! You can display your own family photos too :) I thought I would have a link on where to buy the pics, but I only have 8 available right now. If there's interest, maybe I'll make it official and put it for sale on my website. $55 for the block and pack of 10) 5"x7" prints. +shipping. Message me if you're interested.

My studio in DT LA has changed my life. Having a creative space outside of the home to work from is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I share my studio with one of my best friends, Robin Maguire, and we are basically in an artists colony in the arts district in DT. The owner of the space did the most amazing job currating her tennants. There are painters, sculptors, writers, commercial businesses, photographers, production peeps... You name it. Being around so many other creative people is just a joy. Twice a year we collectively open up our studios for a night and do a group show in the gallery. If you feel like getting your art on, stop by our open studio for a bit. Robin and I will be there to receive people with booze, food and our fun selves.

Simply Beautiful | m. kobe photography

New blog post! I've seriously been excited to feature this wedding on my blog for months. It was so fun.

http://mkpblog.com/2017/10/simply-beautiful/

One of the perks of my job is that people will just walk into my life; seemingly out of nowhere, and just thrust the most amazing moments in front of my lens for me to document. One day, I got a message from this beautiful bride who had found me on Yelp. A week later she, her fiancé and their two ki...

Blues On The Green | m. kobe photography

New blog post!! The Pasadena PAL held it's annual golf tournament last week and it was awesome.

http://mkpblog.com/2017/10/blues-on-the-green/

Because I live in sunny California, I do not have seasons to mark my year, but rather, I have a couple of annual golf tournaments I shoot that do the trick. The Pasadena Police Activities League, or PAL, held this year’s golf fundraiser at the beautiful Brookside golf course. I started shooting earl...

I’m Gonna Take The Subway! | m. kobe photography

EEEEEEK! Epic adventure blog post today folks! I had the opportunity to hike Subway in Zion... 3-rappels, a slot canyon and lot's of swimming. I want more!

http://mkpblog.com/2017/09/im-gonna-take-the-subway/

In this case, the subway is a 9-mile hike in my home states’ Zion National Park. I love having friends that ask me to go on these adventures that require permits and an experienced guide. Why did we need an expert you ask? Because this hike through a slot canyon involved 3 rappels! 3!! It also invol...

Life Is A Battlefield | m. kobe photography

Today, I feature a paintball outing for the Pasadena PAL, one of my favorite organizations. Check it out.

http://mkpblog.com/2017/09/life-is-a-battlefield/

In this case, said battlefield is a fun one. The Pasadena Police Activities League, or PAL, took the kids lucky enough to be in the organization on a paintball outing this summer. I put on my best crappy clothes, loaded up my camera gear and met them at Paintball USA in Santa Clarita ,on what might…

Crazy For You | m. kobe photography

New blog post! Don't let the mildness of this cover photo fool you (FB does not allow me to upload the thumbnail pics of my choosing like it once did for some reason). This wedding was more lively than this image would have you believe :)

http://mkpblog.com/2017/08/crazy-for-you/

Scott and Tony have been together for 16 years. They had a very intimate wedding ceremony last year that a friend and colleague of mine had the pleasure of shooting. The couple had a reception for friends and family a few months ago, an event my friend Cam was not available to shoot so he sent them…

Acting Out | m. kobe photography

For this weeks blog post, let's start out with some sweet seriousness before jumping into the wild party that comes next.

http://mkpblog.com/2017/07/acting-out/

Okay, maybe the title of today’s blog post is a little misleading as the young lady took her becoming a bat mitzvah very seriously. She is a working, professional actor and thus super charismatic, poised and completely comfortable holding her own in a room full of adults. Actually, I think maybe she...

A Contact High | m. kobe photography

I had big plans to post another blog this week, but my family's annual Brew and Pie Festival just consumed too much of my week. Drinking beer, eating pie and playing lawn games all day with friends and family is a full-time job and one I take super seriously. So alas, I'm re-posting last weeks blog! I'm sure there's a bunch of you who missed... Why not take a look today?

http://mkpblog.com/2017/06/a-contact-high/

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I love love LOVE shooting live music. It hits me in all my pleasure sensors. That sounded dirty, but you know what I mean. A Contact High | m. kobe photography

Last weekend was CRAZY packed with back to back shoots. I crossed the finish line shooting the Arroyo Seco Weekend, a music festival that showcased a lot of great bands. Because of my booked-to-the-gills schedule I wasn't able to shoot everyone I would have liked, but I did get to shoot G. Love, two seconds of the Alabama Shakes, The Shins and Mumford & Sons. It was a great way to top off this years busy season.

Today's blog post are some of my favorites from the festival. Check it out!

The children’s studio at Full Circle Yoga and Therapy was completed just before the pandemic. It was a lifelong dream finally realized. To have created a space dedicated completely to the children of our community.

Sadly, for the time being, this will not be a place where children can gather because of the reality of the coronavirus. Happily, in the meantime, this will be a place where our therapists continue to meet one on one with children as they confront anxiety, depression, and lots of the big stuff we are all tackling right now.

Full Circle has always invested back in the community of Salt Lake City. This wonderful space was made possible by the support of the community. We are all so connected. It truly takes a village. Thank you all for being part of ours.

So much love and gratitude and kindfulness to everyone!

(special thanks to m. kobe photography for the rad photos of our space)
