It's that time again! Time for Pet Photos With Santa! Bring your dog, cat, bird, rabbit, retile or any other reasonably well behaved pet and join us at Andersen's Pet Shop November 16th to get your pets photo with santa! This is always a fun event and all money goes directly to The Glendale Humane Society! Call Andersen's Pet Shop to reserve your spot. We will be taking walk ins as time allows but it does get busy and there can be a wait. See flyer for all the info. Let me know if you have any questions.

PUPPY TIME!!!!! How sweet are these little puppies???? I was so happy to go and cuddle all these cuties last week, oh and also take their photos. There is something so special about cuddling puppies, and since I'm more of an old dog kinda gal I wasn't worried at all about taking them all home! Well maybe a little. Okay are you ready? Meet Dove, Raven, Wren, Drake and Sparrow! These precious pups are available for adoption from The Glendale Humane Society. Check out their website for more info and their adoption process. My most recent trips to Morro Bay CA were amazing as usual! If you follow me on Instagram you might have caught some of the stories I did while I was there. I updated the "Dog Friendly Central Coast" blog with new and dog friendly restaurants like Noi and Doi's 2nd Street Cafe in Baywood, a couple of new hotels including the fantastic Inn at Morro Bay and my dogs favorite new activity kayaking at the A Kayak Shack! Missing this little fire cracker today. These are the last photographs I took with my camera of our dear Dorothy. These were just for fun and just for me so I thought. I decided to share them because they were funny and because this is what life looked like the day we took them....Not perfect, messy, crumbs every where and that crazy face. I miss that little pupcake face. She absolutely loved the pupcakes from Three Dog Bakery, Encino . She had one nearly every day for the last couple months of her life. She only had one tooth so I had to cut them up for her.

Dog Friendly Central Coast

I am planning my next Central Coast Sessions for July! Dates will be up mid week for those interested. I am so excited already! I can't wait to be back in Morro Bay! Ryan J. Lane’s offbeat throwback nerd portraits

What is it about these portraits by Ryan J. Lane that make them so great? My favorite part of this is where he says “Early on I did what made me laugh,” he says. “I would just get a quirky idea in my head and I wasn’t even thinking will this sell or not. I think the best art comes from that place.” So another example of a crazy idea turned into something cool! Our friends at The Glendale Humane Society just took in 11 dogs from a hoarder situation last week plus over the weekend they took in another 5 dogs from the sh*tzu back yard breeder in riverside. All of these dogs need extensive grooming (go look at the sh*tzu pictures on the GHS page), medical and dental.

Glendale Humane is a non profit rescue and is not associated with any local, state or federal government so the only funding they get is from donations.

Christmas came a little late this year to 73 dogs living with a hoarder in southern California. But it did come in the form of multiple rescue groups taking these dogs from the home and into safe, secure environments. They no longer have to curl up for warmth, struggle with one another for meals...

Many thanks to Ruby for being an amazing Santa again this year! Also a big thank you to Jhenie and Ari for helping things run smooth this weekend. And thanks to Andersen's for hosting again this year. It was a great weekend raising money for The Glendale Humane Society! I love seeing all of our regular furry friends year after year and of course making new ones, it was a fun weekend for all who met Santa! Except one little guy.... This is why I'll stick to doing Pet Photos With Santa!

Today is our final day of our Pet Photos With Santa fundraiser for The Glendale Humane Society! I think all of our reservations are booked up but we will take walk ins as time allows so head on down to Andersen's Pet Shop today between 11- 2:30! Oh and how cute is Duncan?? We loved meeting him and all the other pups, a few birds and a bearded dragon yesterday.

This weekend is our Pet Photos With Santa fundraiser for The Glendale Humane Society at Andersen's Pet Shop! Every year we get questions so I’m gonna answer the most popular ones here...

Pet Photos With Santa FAQ

1. Is it only dogs that can get photos with Santa? No. We’ve had all kinds of pets like birds, bunnies, turtles, kitties, and even a snake has come to get photos with Santa.

2. Does Glendale Humane Society really get all the money? Yes! Everyone volunteers their time and talents and Andersen’s Pet Shop donates the space.

3. Do you take walk ins? Yes! We recommend making a reservation by calling Andersen’s Pet Shop but as time allows we will take walk ins. The only time we won’t take any reservations or walk ins Is between 1:30-2 pm Saturday.

4. Do you use the same set up every year? No. We change it up every year so you can come again and get another pet photo with Santa this year!

5. Is your Santa familiar with dogs and how to handle them? Yes! Our Santa is an animal caretaker at Glendale Humane Society with 5 years experience!

These cuties are Wonder and Pulga! We had a blast at their shoot! It was actually a little while ago but I can’t not share them. It was pouring rain that morning, fortunately the rain stopped and the clouds parted and it made for a beautiful backdrop.

Miss Mavis is like a little sprite! She's here, there and everywhere all at the same time. Mavis has tons of energy, she loves playing with her toys and most of all loves her brother Ben. More on him in a different post. For now enjoy this little cutie!

Meet Nelly! Nelly was adopted a few months ago from Guide Dogs of America. She’s considered a “Career Change Dog” Some times dogs, for a variety of reasons, aren’t a good fit for the program so they are adopted out to families who are a better fit for what the dog needs. Nelly is loving life in her new home and enjoys playing with all her toys, learning tricks, going for walks and most of all she’s happy being a part of her new family.

Did you know August 1st is the universal birthday for rescue and shelter dogs? Since many dogs come into the shelter with out an actual birthdate this day was chosen back in 2008 by the North Shore Animal League to give all the dogs a birthday! Happy Birthday to all the rescue and shelter pets!

Lots of people choose their dogs gotcha day as a birthday too and that's what we did for Dorothy on her gotcha day this last January. We had a little party with lots of treats from Three Dog Bakery, Encino and she got a new collar, leash and harness from Bella B's BARK-ery. This was an out take from her sweet sixteen photoshoot. That tongue has a life of it's own!
