My entry 'After The Ball' for LensCulture's Critics' Choice Awards.
'This introverted, emotional and depressed series of self-portraits created with the inspiration from artists' works such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Ramon Casas; is a playful interpretation of the draining everyday news and mental health issues from another era's colors and perspectives.
Using real brush strokes and textures on photographs, I create the painting-like images that are highly in resemblance with the original piece, yet playing and changing their context using modern day symbolism.
Inspired from the painting 'After The Ball' by Gari Melchers, this self-portrait is a personal reaction and expression of frustration to all that is happening in the world we see everyday through our little violent screens.'
