It's been 25 years since the beginning of the trial of the century the trial that the not guilty verdict. The verdict that split America down racial lines for the past 25 years. And that not guilty verdict along with the election of Barack Obama made it possible for Donald Trump to become president. And also turned news media into entertainment news. Please join us Monday February, 10th at 7 p.m. EST 4 p.m. Pacific Time from Washington DC and Los Angeles as we talk about the trial of the century from the African-American perspective. And give you the information truthfully about the trial of the century. That mainstream media has misrepresented to the American people for the past 25 years.

For years I talked about how mainstream media was biased toward African American people. And now everyday, we see that. My critics are no longer so critical of the stance I have taken and take in regards mainstream media. Photojournalist/ Black Press Advocate Haywood Galbreath

"But what they didn't know, was that their lives had been changed forever because they had been part of something great. And greatness, no matter how brief, stays with a man!"
- The Replacements-

Today January 24th marks the 25th anniversary of the beginning of what was called "the trial of the century" the OJ Simpson double murder trial.

On a Tuesday morning January 24, 1995 I walked into the courtroom of the OJ Simpson double murder trial. I had no idea what really lay in store for me and the nation. It became known as the trial of the century involving celebrity and race. By the time the trial ended America would have become even more further divided by race. And many lives were changed forever. The OJ Simpson double murder trial took on a life of its own. It also became a cottage industry with many white Americans becoming multi-millionaires. And even though it was a trial where African-Americans were involved primarily in many areas. Most of them at the end of the trial would be vilified and would not have the same very beneficial financial outcome, as the white Americans that participated in the different areas of the trial.

Some may think it was easy because I was a member of the press. And that it would only be natural that I would be in the courtroom covering the trial. However, that is not true the mainstream media which is defined as mainly white male owned news-gathering organizations primarily dominated by white males. Those news photo organizations did not want the black press to have a photo position in the courtroom to cover the trial. I and the black press had to have the judge honorable Lance Ito who presided over the trial. Give us a position in the courtroom to cover a case involving a prominent African-American. By the end of the trial I had become the only photojournalists in the world to have daily access to shoot the trial for the black press of America. And almost every day the black press African-Americans and myself was insulted. Sometimes by the white reporters, but mainly by the white photojournalist questioning our right to be there. And often saying why are you here, you shouldn't be here?!

I persevered and when the final verdict of not guilty was read on October 3rd 1995. I had accomplished something that never would be accomplished again In our life time due to the changing of the way media covers events. One would think with this accomplishment Against All Odds that the world of photojournalism and journalism would have recognized this accomplishment. However, that did not and has not happen and I was even told by the mainstream media. That even though I had accomplished it I never would profit from it! I celebrate this 25th anniversary knowing that with believe in myself and the power of the great spirit. As well as the right of the black press of America to have the same rights as mainstream media. We set a precedent and accomplish something something good that borders on great. That never will be accomplished again and they can't take that away from us!

There's a saying it says "the saddest words ever said or pinned are surely I could have been". I live by those words living my life in such a way that those will not be the words of my epitaph. That I will be all I can be and even more. That I will work my hardest to make sure those are not the words that will be used about African-American people. When it comes to opportunities to participate equally in the country that their ancestors built it's economic wealth in bo***ge. I am extremely proud of my accomplishment. And what that accomplishment means for other black photojournalists and the black press of America. I continue to work hard to advocate for the black press and black photojournalists. To have the right to participate in all news events, but especially those that involve black Americans.

They said that black press photographers didn't have the same skill to shoot beside white press photographers, but we proved them wrong. They missed the shot of OJ smiling for the first time, but we captured it and they had to call us to get it!

It's been twenty-four years since the not-guilty verdict was read, and it tore America apart, further dividing a country with a history of racial fault lines, because former football star O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the brutal 1994 double murder of his estranged wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. In the almost historically epic 252-day trial, Simpson's so-called "dream team", which consisted of Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro, Robert Kardashian, Alan Dershowitz, F. Lee Bailey, Barry Scheck, Peter Neufeld, Carl Douglas and Shawn Chapman, worked their legal acumen, as well as employing creative and somewhat controversial methods, to convince the jury that Simpson’s guilt had not been proven “beyond a reasonable doubt,” thus overcoming what the prosecution called a “mountain of evidence” implicating him as the murderer.

While this was the main story, there was also another story that was yet to be told. For the last twenty-four years, there has been someone else who has a wealth of information about the OJ Simpson double murder trial. He can give the people who remember this trial and who followed it with laser focus, another perspective from someone who was inside the courtroom for 15 months, and saw firsthand how the trial was adjudicated, and wants to give his unbiased take on the trial of the century. He was the only journalist who had unprecedented access to many of the key players in the trial, and certain information that other photojournalists weren't privy to. He shot over 19,000 images, some ending up on the front page of national newspapers, magazines and in the interior of the publications as well. He feels it's time to tell his story through the voice and eyes of a witness to judicial history. His name is Haywood Galbreath.

And there will be no better documentary than one from a man and his camera, who fought the system to be able to cover the story, and became a trusted confidant to many of those involved with the trial. Shooting the Trial of the Century: Through the Lens of Haywood Galbreath, will be the truth, backed-up with "receipts". So follow Haywood as he goes through the process of making this documentary, because there will be some explosive revelations that only someone who was there would know.
