It’s hard to put into words how profoundly difficult my first year and a half in Los Angeles has been, much of it due to my awful previous living situation.
Last summer I didn’t have a car (stolen), a safe way to store food (broken appliances landlord refused to fix or told me to pay for), and I had to sleep on the studio floor for weeks (only room with AC during hottest parts of summer). I never had a mailbox, a place to park, and I even received a threatening letter (totally different, even wilder situation unto itself). Sprinkle two contract-forging lanlords on top and you’ve got 2Ø23 🤙🏾
During this time, I still went to as many sessions, made as much music, and worked on as many projects as I physically could. I didn’t talk much about my situation because frankly, when you’re trying to meet new people in a city like Los Angeles, the everyday crushing weight of your predatory living situation is an awful ice breaker lol
Anyway, I say all that to say I’m finally out of that situation (Julia Moffa’s basically a realtor now). I’m really hoping that this will be a turning point in my current time here. Ok rant over thanks for reading if you got this far 🫶🏾🛰
