🦌 Late Afternoon Drink & Swim at the Lake

Watching this moose cow wade in, sip water, and swim across the lake was a big highlight from last month!

A bull moose was tucked in the grass on the opposite shoreline, quietly watching her. She did give him an over-the-shoulder look before she swam to the other shore.

A magnificent bull elk surveying his territory and keeping a protective watch over his small harem this week.

Skipped the trip to Rocky Mountain National Park this year, so it was nice to see these in the mountain neighborhood.

Dramatic sunset clouds in the mountains on Wednesday!

🌤️ Wednesday was overcast with a giant cloud blanket nearly the entire day, with no sign of the sun, until sunset arrived and the clouds lit up with an amazing display!
• Clouds in the western sky were golden and bright orange.
• Clouds in the eastern sky were pink.

🌤️ Tuesday's clouds were wispy and pretty too.

Yielding the Right-of-Way 🌲🦌

When a magnificent bull moose decides to take an evening stroll down a local mountain dirt road, he definitely gets the right-of-way!

We turned a corner and saw this big guy coming in our direction, so we immediately pulled off to the side of the road with our hazards on to give him plenty of room.

Photos and video were taken safely from inside our parked truck through the window as he ambled past. The 600mm zoom lens (plus a big crop on the photos) makes him look super close, but he had plenty of space as we sat quietly inside our vehicle.
