If you’ve been here for a while, thanks for following along. If you’re new here, welcome!

Also, yes—the messy hair and bun is permanent, and is proof that life doesn’t pause for a photography session. 😂

One of my favorite things about photography is how it preserves ordinary moments that someday won’t feel ordinary at all. The sandy feet, the evening walks, the picnic dinners, the laughter that seems to come out of nowhere.

I’d love to know: what’s your favorite way to spend a summer evening?

As I’m in the midst of this myself, it’s been a great reminder: patience doesn’t come naturally to most of us—kids included.

Today, I got our foster son out of his car seat and stood him up. My hands were full, so I couldn’t pick him up. I told him I couldn’t carry him, but he could hold my hand. Instead, he clung to my leg, sat down in the middle of the parking lot, and spit at me.

After a moment, I helped him back onto his two feet, took his hand, and we walked together.

Parenting has a way of reminding us that growth happens one small moment at a time—for our kids and for us.

Comment 🙋‍♀️ if you can relate.

Memorial Day weekend looks a little different these days — slower afternoons, coffee that stays warm a little longer, dogs curled up by the fire, and gratitude for the freedom to enjoy moments like this. 🇺🇸

Here’s to the ones who served, the families who carry their stories, and the quiet moments that remind us what matters most.

For a second, everything slows down… and you remember to notice it. 🌿

It’s been a minute… 🌿
Life moved fast, but I never stopped noticing the beauty around us.

I’ve missed this—and honestly, I’ve missed you.

Let’s slow down together again.
Come find me May 2nd at the Liberty Street Art Market, in Plymouth Michigan 🤍

He’s always been a huge inspiration behind my work and my business. I’ve spent time reading his books, studying how he saw the world, and learning from the way he grew as an artist.

Born in 1902 and picking up a camera at just 14, he mastered photography with far less than what we have today—and still created images that will outlive generations.

It’s a reminder I come back to often:
it’s not about having the newest gear.

It’s about what you see.
What you feel.
And the people you’re capturing.

That belief is woven into every session I photograph.

We almost didn’t book photos this year… again.

Life didn’t slow down like we thought it would. Between school schedules, sports, and trying to enjoy the few good weather days Michigan gives us, it just kept getting pushed off.

Meanwhile, my camera roll is completely full—but nothing is printed. Nothing on the walls. And somehow… I’m barely in any of the photos with my family.

Because I’m always the one taking them.

And the truth is, it’s not that we’re “awkward” or not photogenic. We’ve just never had someone guide us in a way that feels natural—where we can actually relax, laugh, and just be ourselves.

The hard part?
I know I can wait until next year… but it won’t be this version of us. These little moments—the way they reach for my hand, the way they laugh, the way we are right now—are already changing.

And I don’t want all of that to live on a phone I never go through.

From sunsets to silly moments, messy hair to behind-the-camera vibes—every photo tells a piece of my story. Which side feels most like you today? 🌿📸

When the kids are finally playing nice, the sun’s low, and the lake looks like a painting… that’s golden hour in Michigan. Nothing beats it.

Some days feel too busy for photos. The kids are tired, the schedules are full, and Michigan weather has other plans. But the truth is… it’s the messy, real, everyday moments that become the memories you’ll actually look back on and smile at. Golden hour just makes them a little more magical. ✨
