Seven years ago today, I became a mom. And without even knowing it, I also found the beginning of something that would eventually become Ten Seventeen Photography. ✨

If you’ve ever wondered where the name Ten Seventeen came from, it’s this little boy right here.

10.17.19 — the day Jett made me a mama.

He’s the reason I picked up a camera with a different kind of purpose. The reason I started paying attention to all the little things I never wanted to forget. The tiny hands, the messy hair, the ordinary moments that somehow become the ones you miss the most.

And somewhere along the way, that love for documenting his childhood turned into a love for documenting yours, too.

I don’t think seven years ago I could’ve imagined what this little business would become. But I know exactly where it started.

With him.

Happy 7th birthday to the boy who made me a mama and unknowingly gave this business its name. I’ll never stop being grateful that I get to be yours. 💛

Kidding (kind of) but isn’t he the perfect Goopy? And also I can only imagine how that name transforms. Goop > Sir Goopington > Goop Dogg.

Okay okay, hear me out 😂 These are my photography icks.

Give me real connection over overly staged setups. Give me a gallery full of the little in-between moments instead of making you choose which ones you love most. And while AI can be an amazing tool, I still want my eyes and my hands on your gallery.

I personally cull through your images, choose the moments that make your final gallery, and hand-edit every photo you receive. Because sometimes the “best” photo isn’t technically the most perfect one — it’s the one with the look, the laugh, the tiny hand reaching for mom, or the moment that actually feels like you.

Technology is cool. But your memories deserve a human behind them. 🤎

Okay photographers… what gives YOU the ick? 😂
