Briefly interrupting the family photos for Claire & Dave’s wedding!! 🤍

These two had me remembering exactly why weddings will always have a piece of my heart. The way they looked at each other all day was enough to get me, but seeing them surrounded by such a close family and friends who felt like family? That’s what I loved most.

Being part of Claire & Dave’s day felt like hanging out with a bunch of friends. The most beautiful October day at The Commons 1854 turned into a packed dance floor with an incredible band, and the light-up cowboy hats brought a little Texas to the celebration. Such a fun night!

Claire & Dave, I loved every minute of it. Thank you for making me feel so welcome in your world!

“Maybe next year.”

Very easy to say when you’re looking at the calendar wondering how it’s already October tomorrow. (Trust me, me too!!)

You want the family photos. But then you start thinking about outfits, whether your toddler will cooperate, and when you’re supposed to figure all of this out.

Hi! That’s my part.

I’ll help with the outfits and the planning. Your toddler doesn’t have to arrive ready for a magazine cover. And mom, you get to hand over the camera and be in the photos for once.

Afterward, we’ll choose the images you love and find a place for them in your home. Because “we should really print those” deserves to graduate from the to-do list.

I saw this trend and immediately knew I had to do it because there is so much changing in my business right now!

And apparently with change comes realizing how many things you used to do because you thought you were supposed to…

I’ve changed my mind about SO much since becoming a photographer.

The way I photograph families has changed. The experience I want to give them has changed. Even what I think makes a photo valuable is completely different than it used to be.

But I think the biggest shift has been realizing I don’t need to be the photographer for everyone.

There are definitely going to be more things I change my mind about as I keep figuring out what I want this business to look like.

But for now, I’m very happy to say goodbye to these girls. ✌🏼

15 years of weddings taught me a lot about what I really love photographing.

And somewhere along the way, I realized it was family.

Long before photography was ever my job, I was taking pictures of my own family because I wanted to remember what life looked like in that moment. I still do it now, and I know how much those photographs mean to me.

That’s what I want to create for other people. Beautiful photographs of your family that don’t live on your phone, but become part of your home and mean even more as time goes on.

So maybe this isn’t as much of a pivot as I thought.

Maybe I’m finding my way back to why I picked up a camera in the first place. 🤍
