"This is probably weird, but - could you just come with us?"

It isn't weird. Families book it for once-in-a-lifetime anniversary trips, couples book it for destination weddings, and the footage people love most is never the posed stuff.

The way it actually works: we shoot in blocks, not continuously. A morning block, an evening block, and the rest of the day I'm just a person on a trip who happens to have a camera. Two days in, everyone forgets I'm there. That's when the good stuff happens.

Couples always ask what the difference is between the highlight film and the feature edit, and most pricing pages just list them like everyone already knows.

Short version: the highlight film (3-6 min) is the one people actually watch and share. The feature (15-30 min) is the one you watch on your first anniversary, and your parents watch more than once. The full ceremony audio is the one you want in eleven years when you need to hear exactly what your grandfather said.

And the biggest quality difference between wedding films isn't the camera - it's whether the vows are audible. Ask any videographer how they record vows. It's the most revealing question on the list.

Sixth in the world.

On August 29 I competed at the Cigar Smoking World Championship World Final in Dubrovnik, Croatia — 2 hours and 9 minutes on one cigar, against competitors from dozens of countries. Sixth on the planet, in my first season ever competing.

I got there because Lincoln and Omaha put me there. Apiary Social Club and Capital Cigar Lounge presented the run, and a whole wall of local people funded the trip.

You know? There is this itch to do great, this pressure to perform or execute. I hate slow, weak, and minuscule. I hate it partly because it builds nothing, and partly because of how little I myself have that I need to make it up by building something so big; bigger than life bigger than me.
