Since April/May of 2015, I have increasingly been using more film in my photography, and at this moment, 99% of my photographs are made on film !! .. Using film has changed the way I look at and feel about photography !!

Because of the added cost of film, and the more elaborate and time intensive process, I take far fewer images now than I did when using digital .. and I am much more selective about each photograph I make .. Each image I make is more hand crafted and personal, and feels much more valuable to me !!

I'm going to add photographs to this album, one image at a time .. and go back to mid summer when selecting them to add here !!

When I see them with the sun behind, I call them 'Gold Dollars' .. Often I'm driving and catch a glimpse .. or walking !! .. These were on a Crab Apple tree between our yard and our neighbors !!

I was feeling grateful for my film cameras yesterday :) .. After my walk at The Henry Clay Estate, I went back with my camera to finish up a roll of film .. It took me an hour to expose the last two negatives :) but I sure discovered a lot of ways to look at things .. and then I remembered that it would be a week or so before I see the results scanned on my computer when I get the pleasure to edit them !! ....... I could have brought another roll of film with me, but then I might have been too busy taking photographs, instead of really 'seeing' :)

I remember taking this photograph last year from the front steps of our house on a cloudy afternoon .. I had no idea what it was going to look like until I got the roll of film processed to a CD .. an then I didn't like it very much !! .. But I just recently scanned the negative myself, and I got to see those leaves again .. blowing in the hazy breeze last fall !!

Looking at this photograph from last year reminds me how much I like to incorporate something man-made into the natural environment .. it really helps to give a 'purpose' to a photograph, and certainly a 'sense of place' !! .. It also reminds me how much I love tree limbs and branches ......... Making me look forward to taking some b/w photographs of tree limbs and branches this winter !!

I'm going back and scanning some negatives from last year that didn't look real good on the CD provided by the processing company !! .. This is my own scan, and watching it 'develop' on my computer is almost as much fun as watching a print develop in a darkroom tray !! ...... I call it KISS for 'Keep It Simple Soderman' :)

I had long thought that my old 'Magical Nikon F2' was crippled, and would only work with my older lenses .. Then I asked a few Facebook photography friends for some help .. and then I experimented a bit .. and I discovered that my 'Magical F2' WOULD work with my newer lenses, if I used some 'crutches' :) .. And all of a sudden I had two 'new' lenses to play with on my old 1972 camera .. and I've been walking around with a roll of film in it every day since then :)

I remember looking at these flowers from the other side, and quickly ruled out wasting an exposure .. Then I looked at the flowers with the light behind them, and felt like there might be something there .. Glad I did :)

These are little bitty flowers about 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter !!

With my right arm cradled over the tree limb, I was able to take my time composing this photograph .. Nice quiet meditative time :) ....... The photograph was composed using a deliberately shallow depth of focus, as most of my photographs are .. and the wind was blowing the leaves :) ... That's my excuse for lack of sharpness :)
