My sweet mom! 😍 Love her SO MUCH!
She’s been there with me - holding my hand and soul - during the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I photograph her once a year. Rain or shine. Busy or not. Planned or last minute. We make it happen! It’s a GIFT for decades to come.
I’m watching her beautiful transformation through my lens. Every year is a big milestone. Every year is a reason to celebrate!
I truly love documenting my mom’s legacy!
With our parents, we just never know.
My Dad passed away 10 years ago. I wish I had done his portraits. I started my photography business after he was gone.
With my mom, I’m making up for all the memories not captured with my dad. Some of her portraits I share here, but most I keep private. Legacy keepsakes 💜.
If you’ve been lucky to know MAMA TORO, you know that she’s full of LOVE. She’s one of a kind. She came to this world to spread kindness and show how to get things done. She’s a doer. Service is her love language (and mine too!! so it’s perfect). To know her is to love her.
I remember +8yrs ago, when I told her that I was quitting my big corporate career to launch my photography business. I probably gave her a heart attack, but she said NOTHING. She said “OK!, I’ll come with you tomorrow to open the bank account”, and so we did. 24hrs later, Andre Toro Photography was born. The LLC filled, and my mom drove me to the bank (yes! she’s ALWAYS the one who drives! even now.. haha)
My mom was there a few years later for the STUDIO’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.
She saw my journey from dream to a business, to opening the studio, to expanding the studio to a second floor! She’s been a witness to the hard work. An ear to my crazy & inspiring stories, she keeps telling me I should write a book. She is THE best listener!!
I am convinced that 8 yrs ago she wasn’t too sure that this was the RIGHT way for my career. After my engineering school + MBA at MIT + more than a decade at EMC/Microsoft/Wayfair.. she was NOT expecting me as a portrait studio owner. But that’s the beauty. She never judged or expressed her doubts (that I’m SURE she had).
Thank YOU, Mom, for always cheering me up! Now you’re my favorite person to photograph!
