You guys sure do know how to make a girl feel loved❤. I appreciate your patience as I've been reconfiguring goals. I've received many messages of concern over my online absence, and my recent purging of studio supplies online. I apologize to anyone who has reached out to me unsuccessfully, as my business email has been down for a few months and I have been unable to re-access it. I appreciate that many of you have gone on to reach me through this page however, and going forward this will be the best way to do so.
As many of you know, I celebrated my first decade in business. I have photographed children, families and clients who have become friends. I have followed newborns who became middle-schoolers, and seniors who became newlyweds. It has been a decade that has brought me so much inspiration and joy that I cannot begin to count my blessings. It has provided me a tool with which to document the growth of my own children as well. For all these reasons and more, it is an art I love.
Those of you who have been colleagues throughout this decade, understand the changes this profession has gone through. You have seen the effects of technology and the drift of value, and you have feared the eventual dying of this artform. Those of you who began your journey when I did, lived this change, and at various points in your careers have had to re-evaluate your plans as well. Some have gone on to teach, others are riding the wave, and some have moved on to the next chapter of their lives. Like so many of you, I have gone through my own moments of frustration and reflection, and I've come to a place where I feel complete peace and excitement for where I am headed.
If you have followed this far, here is my plan :)
I am not leaving photography as I simply love it too much. I am streamlining my goals however, and only taking on what I absolutely love, with the style that speaks to me. I took a much needed hiatus this spring, followed by an intentional limitation of sessions that followed. I am closing my website and I will no longer have a business email. I will keep this page on Facebook however, and this is where people who wish to follow my work or reach out should find me. I will not be posting regular "sneak peeks", rather I will periodically post collages of recent favorites. I will also do away with advertising. Over these years I have developed strong relationships with loyal clients, and I believe word of mouth is the most sincere way to gain new exposure. I look forward to continuing to meet new people and photographing the people who are precious to you. Word of mouth is what got me started, and it will now be what sustains me until it can no longer do so. I will likely take on a more limited number of sessions, but as a result, these sessions will be more inspired than ever. I will continue to announce via Facebook of any seasonal offerings, so I urge those of you who are interested to continue to keep eyes on my page.
I am also formally closing "studio" sessions. I've realized I'm not a "prop" photographer, it is not what brings me joy. I have a small dedicated space in my home recently constructed to be my personal idea of what classic indoor sessions should be, and I will continue to use this space for seasonal offerings. I will continue to photograph children and single families, as well as high school seniors, and babies who are at sitting-up age and beyond. I will no longer be offering maternity, engagement, or multi-family sessions. I will leave that to photographers who love and excel in those areas. I will periodically offer themed sessions both indoor and out, but as far as regular offerings, my sessions will be digital minis only. They will be local, and I will continue to offer them midweek, outdoors, and at the most flattering time of the evening. The timed use of sun, haze, shadows and light continues to be what inspires me. I have always maintained that no expensive equipment in the world can replace what you can create with a simple camera, and what nature provides.
For those who have managed to read this entire post, I love you! You are what has kept me coming back for more. Please continue to reach out with your inquiries, and I look forward to riding this new wave and seeing where it leads.
I will leave you with a recent fav ❤🌻
