Sunrise color fix.

Saint Joseph Church, Kaupo, Maui. Established in 1862. Maui has several very old church building on the island. It wasn’t until 2019 that I ventured off the rental car map and discover this location on the back side of Maui. This building is not on the Hana highway (route 360) as many travel bloggers will tell you. The Hana highway ended several miles back at Kalepa gulch bridge. At this point your on the Piilani highway (route 31). The Piilani highway definitely does not have the same Aloha spirit as the Hana highway. While the Hana highway is known for it’s many turns, bridges, tropical forest and waterfalls. The Piilani highway passes through the rain shadow of Haleakala. No tropical rain forest here, just a dry shrub type desert and ancient lava flows. It has a unique beauty of it’s own. The locals that live here prefer the isolation. Past the Church the road smooths out, in parts. A couple spots the road doesn’t exist at all, so travel at your own risk. #808

Autumn sunset in Yosemite Valley. Sun setting on Half Dome from Sentinel bridge. I last visited Yosemite back in February 2019, so it’s been a while. With a four day weekend looming and Fall colors fading, I made a last minute decision to pay the valley a visit.
