🐾 DOG WALKERS NEEDED 🐾

Every day, dozens of dogs wait for someone to open their kennel door, clip on a leash, and give them a break from shelter life.

Many people are surprised when they volunteer here. They expect difficult dogs. What they often find are friendly dogs who simply miss having a person of their own.

Some want to play fetch.
Some want to explore the play yard.
Some are happy just sitting beside you in the shade.
And some are so excited for a walk that they practically smile when they see a leash.

We're especially looking for volunteers who can help with afternoon dog walking shifts, though morning help is welcome too.

What does the job involve?

🐾 Walking shelter dogs
🐾 Spending time in play yards
🐾 Helping dogs decompress and burn energy
🐾 Working outdoors in Florida weather
🐾 Making a real difference in a dog's day

No dog training experience is required. New volunteers receive training and are matched with dogs appropriate for their experience level.

You don't have to volunteer every day.
You don't have to commit to huge amounts of time.
Even a few hours a week can change the lives of shelter dogs waiting for homes.

A walk may only be 15 minutes to you.

To a shelter dog, it can be the best part of their day.

I just heard the news..Polly Pocket's studio pictures helped to get her in front of her new Fur Ever family who drove up from Spring Hill to meet her after seeing them.

Three years ago, I started JRubacha Photography with a camera, 30 years of wildlife photography experience, a lot of determination, and a hope that I could create meaningful images for people in our community.

Since then I've photographed everything from beloved dogs and horses to growing families, musicians, small business owners, and even shelter dogs waiting for a second chance.

One thing I've learned is that photographs become more valuable with time.

The puppy becomes a senior dog.

The horse you've loved for years grows older.

The kids who don't want to sit still suddenly aren't kids anymore.

The photo session you almost didn't book becomes something you're incredibly grateful to have.

So I'm curious...

Every shelter dog I photograph has a story.

Some have found their forever families.
Some are still waiting.
All of them deserve to be seen.

What many people don't know is that my journey photographing shelter dogs started with my own heartbreak and the kindness of the volunteers who helped search for my lost puppy years ago...

I finally put that story into words.
