Now that the leaves are on the trees, it’s harder to get photos of these owls. This one was literally 10 feet outside our kitchen window. Sucks to shoot through glass, but it’s pretty awesome when this beautiful bird is sitting so close to the house. ❤️

When the photo of a game-winning shot is a fail. Ugh!

I made this image last week during a Big 12 tournament semi-final game between Iowa State and Arizona. As we can see from the scoreboard in the background, this was a shot at the very end of a pretty exciting game. It went, Arizona won and then went on the next day to defeat Houston for the Big 12 championship. No faces and the crowd in the background really isn't doing much. To make matters worse, when the shot went in, the Arizona player ran to his right in the very corner of the court and was piled on and celebrated. All the jube was blocked by players, TV cameras and team/league social media content shooters. Had we been able to see even half of the face of the shooter I'd have felt better about this image. But that's the thing about sports photography, we can't control how the athletes move or position themselves.

Shot with a Canon R3, 24-105/f4 lens, at 65mm, f4, 1/1600, ISO8000, jpeg with only in-camera NR.
