🎓❤️ My Gentle Giant Is Officially a Trojan! ❤️💛

Last week, we moved my son into his dorm, and this week, it became REAL… he completed is first week of classes at USC! 🥹

Watching him step into this next chapter has me feeling ALL the emotions. I could not be prouder of my gentle giant.

He’s embarking on this next level of his journey, balancing basketball with a focus on Engineering and there’s truly nowhere to go but UP!

But what makes me proudest isn’t just what he’s accomplishing. It’s who he is.
He’s a sweet son.
He’s a leader.
He’s resilient.
He’s witty.
And he is a TRUE gentleman.
This boy will get on me EVERY TIME I even think about touching a door when he’s around. 😂 He does NOT play about his momma! And honestly… I love it. ❤️

I’m so thrilled for this next chapter in his journey. There will be challenges, growth, wins, lessons, and plenty of moments that will shape the man he is becoming.

And even though he’s just minutes away, I’m not gonna lie… it’s tough not having him right here at home. 😩 But those visits? They surely ease Mama’s heart. ❤️

Son, watching you step into this new season has been one of my greatest joys. I hope you know how incredibly proud I am of you - not just for what you do, but for the man you are.

It was so dope watching Jaime bring this cypher together in Watts and seeing all these talented artists come together. 🎤🔥 Mani, BroRecon, Calvin Perry, Alaz, Millz, MoneyCharms, Ace SMPC, and Mr. Solo — this was a REAL moment. Jaime was always a connector and a creator. He knew how to bring people together and make something happen.

I can’t even imagine what life will be without Jaime. My family. ❤️

While he was here, he always had my back. He always had my cousin Dante’s back, and he never stopped holding Dante and my Aunty Gloria’s names high. All these years, he made sure their headstones were trimmed, polished, and cared for. That was Jaime - he remembered, he honored, and he showed up.

So many childhood memories are flooding back. Like when we were teenagers and Jaime and Dante let me “ride the whip” at Fox Hills Mall… and I hit a pillar in the parking structure. 😂 I almost took the whole damn structure down! That was us. That was family.

Before he was an artist. Before he was an activist. Before the world knew his name for all the things he created and stood for… he was my fam. The one who truly had my back.

He never told me no. If it was within his power to do something for me, he did it. No questions asked. That kind of love is rare.

Over the years, I had the privilege of photographing him, and one of his all-time favorites was always at the Watts Towers. ❤️ He had such pride in where we came from - Watts, California. He carried that place, our people, our stories, and our history with him.

And now, I’m blessed to believe he’s watching over all of us.

But damn… I sure wish the last time I saw him wasn’t the last time.

Rest easy, fam. Your name will continue to be held high. ❤️
