The station was built in 1930 by the Independent Oil and Gas Company; the station became a Phillips 66 station the following year. An addition was added to the station between 1930 and 1942 which served as an auto repair shop. Phillips operated the station until 1958, and it continued to sell gasoline until the 1970s. The building is now the Kansas Route 66 Visitors Center.

Home of the 72 oz. "free" steak (see the 72 oz. steak challenge rules at https://www.bigtexan.com/72-oz-steak/), The Big Texan Steak Ranch and Brewery is a restaurant and motel located in Amarillo, Texas, which opened on Route 66 in 1960. It relocated to its present location on Interstate 40 in 1970.

Evening Star Mill

Though the photos before and after this one were taken in Yermo, California, I can find no information on the building. And the only information I can find from the truck is that there was an Evening Star Mine in Cima California in the early 1940's. This photo was taken in 2016 so I doubt the place still exists, no matter where it was. If anyone has any additional info, please feel free to comment.

Mount Charleston Wilderness

The city of Las Vegas ranges in elevation from 1,657 feet (505 meters) to 6,890 feet (2,100 meters). The surrounding peaks can exceed 10,000 feet (3,048 meters). Charleston Peak (Nuvagantu, literally "where snow sits", in Southern Paiute or Nüpakatütün in Shoshoni), about 40 minutes north of The Strip, is at an elevation of almost 12,000 feet, and tonight is 40 degrees cooler than the valley.
