Thunder Over Michigan. August 2018.
Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Army Aviation Heritage Foundation.

A collection of Vietnam-era Hueys and Cobras, flown by former Army pilots.

I stood there watching, remembering that my brother had always wanted to fly helicopters for the Army.

He never got the chance.

I reached into my pocket.

His dog tags.

I walked up to one of the crew, briefly told Michaels story, placed them in his hand, and asked if they could fly with the next flight.

Without hesitation, he walked them to the Huey.

Pilot callsign: Mudd.

Minutes later, the Huey lifted off.

In a way, Michael was living out one of his dreams.

When they landed, Mudd removed the tags from where they had been hanging.

He held them out in front of him.

And saluted.

I went to one knee.

I wept.

For the brother I grew up with.

For my mother, who I know would have appreciated strangers honoring her baby boy that way.

What a day.

The first ever throtl Throw Down Maple Grove Raceway was a blast.

Bring together some of the biggest automotive influencers battling out on the track, and some killer drift pad action.

Great to see so many people come out to the track today, thank you all!
