A distant storm creates a dramatic night sky above Lafayette Square in beautiful downtown LaGrange, GA. I was returning from Atlanta late one night when the lightning caught my eye. I quickly parked and grabbed my gear and this is one of the images I captured.

This waterfall in northwest Arkansas was flowing strong last week with all of the rainfall they received the prior weekend. It emerges from some enchanted woods and drops into a peaceful creek bottom lined with large rock formations and a canopy of trees.

One of my favorite shots so far and it was almost an accident. We had gone to Tunnel View for sunset and had stayed around as the stars began to twinkle above Yosemite Valley. Suddenly, a glow appeared over Cathedral Rock and the waning but almost full moon emerged. I had my 600mm on, quickly framed the shot and took the photo. I got more than I expected.

This Anhinga (commonly confused with Cormorants) was perched across the pond from me during a quick stop in Eufaula, Alabama a few weeks ago. The bird is sun-drying its feathers. Anhingas don’t fully waterproof their feathers, which helps them dive and swim underwater while hunting fish. After fishing, they often perch with wings spread to dry out.
