Today’s guest is the Barred Owl (Strix varia)!

Barred Owls blend into the forest with their streaked brown-and-white feathers, camouflaging them among the trees as they search the woods for prey.
Most Barred Owls stay in the same area year-round, and studies of banded birds found that none had moved more than 6 miles away.

Welcome back to 🦅🦊🐿️🦝🐞🐛

Today’s guest is the Great Crested Flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus)!

Perched high above the canopy, this Great Crested Flycatcher stands out with its bright yellow belly and rusty tail before launching after passing insects.

This species has been observed lining its nest with shed snakeskins, which may give predators the impression that a snake is nearby.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting a very special kid, Tyler, who wants to be a wildlife photographer. set him up with a new camera and we met for a lesson before some field training at at Hershey Park. Tyler was full of excitement throughout the trip and shared my joy for all things wild! He got to feed some wolves, get up close and personal with a skunk, and my favorite of the day, a Golden Eagle made a surprise appearance! Hopefully Tyler will let me share some of his photos after he’s done editing 🤞🏽
