Denise Retallack | photographer By capturing the feeling and essence of their project, my photographs have helped many of my clients win design awards.

I am an architectural and landscape architectural photographer who provides a way for my clients to show their work by bringing the experience of each project to those who can’t see them in person. I love collaborating with my clients to understand the project details, concept, and important design elements; to create images that convey their vision, their talent, and their designs. I have a deep

understanding and appreciation for all the time, talent, and passion that my clients put into their work and what goes into the design and building process. My current home base is near the beach in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina. I also enjoy getting back to the mountains of East Tennessee to photograph projects for my Knoxville clients and to visit family and friends there. I love to travel and had the pleasure of growing up in New England; earning a degree in Fine Art and working as a graphic designer in Maryland; going back to school at Brooks Institute of Photography and working for SWA Group in California; starting my photography business in Tennessee and now enjoying my new home here in Charleston. I’m an active ASMP member and have served on the TN chapter board. The types of clients I typically work with include architects, landscape architects, construction companies, contractors, developers, interior designers, engineers, lighting companies, restaurants and hotels. I always welcome any other types of clients as well; if my style fits your needs please get in touch.

Anyone going to the national AIA Convention in Chicago this week? Be sure to stop by ASMP's Architecture Specialty Group's exhibit on the expo floor. I'm honored to have this image of Morrison School, designed by Red Chair Architects, on display in the gallery show. The gallery is featuring 30 - 24"x30" prints of architectural photographers work. Wish I could be there!

I'm excited for the nice weather and the busy season kicking off! I'm photographing the new ETSU Parking Garage, Welcome Center Office Building and Dining for BARBERMcMURRY architects today. Check out the project on their website: http://www.bma1915.com/projectpages/113100.html

Challenge: Design a parking structure that houses not only 1200+ spaces but also public safety offices, a welcome center, and a food service component.

A unique feature of the University of Tennessee Natalie L. Haslam Music Center is the glass treads on the main stairwell, created by Nathan Allan Glass Studios Inc. These glass treads with an opacity layer allow natural light to transcend through each floor to accompany the sounds of music heard throughout the building. ©2013 Denise Retallack

The Norris Lake house I featured last summer has an interesting element that Sanders Pace Architecture used to increase the living space of their design. They used LaCantina Doors for the wall between the indoor living room/kitchen and the outdoor screened in porch/dining room. This allows the homeowner of this vacation lake house to eliminate the wall and fully enjoy indoor/outdoor living. ©2013 Denise Retallack http://www.lacantinadoors.com/gallery

One of my favorite projects I photographed last year was the new University of Tennessee Music Center. The interior design is just gorgeous. Through the use of pattern, light and color, Lauderdale Design Group created a classic yet modern feel throughout the project. ©2013 Denise Retallack
