One week into my 30s and feeling really really wonderful.
I took this first photo on film this morning and developed it in the afternoon. My nails are chipped from rock climbing, too-long bangs pinned back like a little kid, and oh so cozy in the Sinclair gas station sweatshirt I bought for Mack in Colorado.
The seeds I planted in my garden are starting to sprout, and I’ve taken up running, with the help of Mack who knows way more about training than i think I ever will.
I’m typing this up with coffee in a mug that I made and our cat Smokey laying on my lap, like he always does as soon as I sit down to work.
29 was a really hard year, full of grief and injury and trying to run a business in the midst of it all. I so wish my dad and grandma could have been here to see me turn 30. But I learned so much about myself. The year was full of little moments of beauty, from the support of friends to traveling across the world photographing weddings. The whole decade took me to some incredible places. I found climbing, I learned all the crazy things you learn in your 20s paired with the pandemic of course, I met and married the love of my life, and we finished off the decade exploring Iceland and sitting under the northern lights in the freezing midnight air.
My photography business is the only full time job I’ve ever had, and what an absolute privilege it is! (Sorry to my scarcely used bachelors degree) I can’t imagine doing anything else. I’ll be pouring my heart and soul into photography for a long long time.
Thank you for letting me document the most precious moments of your lives over the years. It means the world. 🥹
Here’s to 30!! Catch me in my bucket hat with a camera around my neck taking my cat for walks, in this new decade the weirdo within is gonna be on full display. 💃
