One of my favorite parts of traveling is meeting small local business owners engaged in their craft. Here is a shopkeeper gluing the sole of a shoe by hand in a small leather shop we stopped in last fall down the hill from Cattedrale di Santa Maria degli Angeli, San Matteo e San Gregorio Magno.

A friend of mine posted a story about how much she’d give to be back on a trip she took to the Mediterranean region. So of course I immediately went to browse my pictures from our trip last October. Here’s a shot I never posted before but feel like it makes sense during this period of lockdown and melancholy. We were riding on top of a double deck bus from Nice back to our port at Villefranche-sur-Mer when I glanced up and saw this person lounging in the late day sun. I too, would give a lot to be able to travel again soon!
