Heather Ebey Photography I’ve spent a lifetime immersed in photography, growing from traditional roots into a more painterly, expressive approach.

www.heatherebeyphotography.com Since moving to the Seattle area, I proudly consider myself a Pacific Northwest photographer. My work leans toward intimate landscapes—quiet slices of nature that invite mindfulness and slowing down. Flora, fauna, wate

r, and cloudscapes appear often in my images. Some are traditional, while others take on the soft blur of Impressionism or Pointillism, created by layering multiple shots with subtle variations. When I hold a camera, I enter a flow state—open to whatever the day may bring. I rarely plan what I’ll shoot; instead, I follow curiosity, playing with techniques like in-camera multiple exposures or intentional movement to see how they interact with a scene. This freedom has led me to create painterly abstracts like Dancing Blooming Kousa Dogwood or narrative wildlife moments like Two Painted Turtles Basking on Log, which received a People’s Choice blue ribbon at the 2025 Kirkland Senior Art Show. Though I spent over three decades in IT and computer programming, my creative side was always quietly growing. I took my first darkroom class in the 1970s and never stopped learning since. In 2024, a workshop on Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) reshaped my vision—and a feature on this shift appeared in the March 2025 issue of ICM Photography Magazine. Today, I continue to explore and experiment, drawing from a personal archive of over 31,000 digital images and a treasure trove of analog film waiting to be rediscovered.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Sailboat on a Blue Day" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.
