I create to inspire myself first.

And if sharing it inspires a few more people to get in the water, try something new, appreciate the ocean a little more or create a life that feels more like their own? Even better.

When I first left Montreal, I started sharing because I wanted to take my friends and family with me. I wanted them to come diving and swimming with me, to see the ocean the way I was experiencing it, and to share this new life I was building by the water.

Somewhere along the way, people I had never met started coming along too.

But even if nobody was watching, I think I’d still be creating.

Taking photos, filming little moments, writing, telling stories and documenting the way I experience the ocean and coastal living is part of how I live a creative life. It makes me pay attention. It inspires me to explore, learn, notice the little things and keep falling in love with this life.

These messages remind me that sometimes the things we create just because they mean something to us can end up meaning something to someone else too. 💙

If you’re new here, welcome to my life in shades of blue! 🌊

I’m Gabriella, and my life revolves around the ocean. I share everything from freediving, spearfishing, marine life encounters, and shelling to boating, coastal living, beach cleanups, sustainable swaps, travel, cooking, and everyday adventures by the water.

My goal is to inspire more people to explore, appreciate, and protect our blue planet. 💙

Maybe one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me was letting me try.

And try. And try something else. 😂

I danced: ballet, ballet jazz, hip hop, belly dance. I played touch football. I somehow decided that at 5’1”, basketball was worth a shot. 🏀😂

Then came skiing, golf, scuba diving, freediving, spearfishing, wakesurfing, paddleboarding, weight training… and probably a few other phases I’m forgetting.

I wasn’t always the best. Actually, I was very often not the best.

But my parents never made being the best the point.

They supported the lessons, the practices, the new equipment, the changing interests and all the times I decided I want to try that too.

And watching this talk about how we often teach girls to strive for perfection while teaching boys to be brave made me think about what all those years of trying things might have given me.

Sports taught me to be uncomfortable. To fall. To look ridiculous while learning something new. To lose. To practice. To trust my body. To make decisions under pressure. To realize that being bad at something isn’t a reason not to do it.

And maybe, without realizing it, all of that was also teaching me how to lead.

Because leadership isn’t about always knowing what you’re doing. It’s being willing to make a decision when you don’t know exactly how it’ll turn out. It’s learning, adapting, getting back up and trying again.

I’m so grateful my parents gave me the freedom to be a beginner over and over again.

Maybe we don’t need to teach girls to be perfect.

Maybe we need to give them more opportunities to be brave. 💙

Turns out my little social media thing isn’t doing too bad.

I just genuinely love the ocean. I love taking photos, making videos, telling stories and sharing the things I am learning and experiencing along the way.

And somehow that “little hobby” turned into a community, millions of views and brands I genuinely love wanting to work with me.

Still feels a little surreal sometimes!

Maybe being a little delusional is how you end up living a life you once thought was impossible 🌊🤿

So many of the things I do now started as a “wouldn’t it be crazy if…” thought.

Living by the ocean. Freediving. Traveling to places I used to save on Pinterest. Building a life around the things that make me feel most alive.

At some point you have to stop being realistic enough to believe you might actually pull it off.

So yes, maybe we should all be a little delusional af.

Some of us were simply not put on this earth to find x. We were put here to make things pretty.

Turns out there was a reason my brain wanted absolutely nothing to do with numbers and everything to do with cameras, colors, stories and the ocean.

I know my strengths!
