We are MOVING to Texas!

I haven’t posted on here in many months because behind the scenes I’ve been closing up my photography business preparing to move to the mainland.

We received direction from the Lord during our trip to Pittsburgh in July that we were supposed to move to Texas to attend

We are so excited for this next chapter but it is bittersweet leaving the Big Island! Hawaii has been home for us the last 11 years.

We will be back frequently to visit my husbands family and of course our large hanai family and all the aunties that have taken us in as their own children!

I know I will eventually reopen my photography business but the next 6 months we are diving into homeschool and making this transition.

We don’t know anyone where we are going other than a few acquaintances that we’ve met in the last 6 months. We’ve told a lot of people about us moving and almost every other person knows someone who has just moved or is moving to exactly where we are going. So we trust we will find our Hawaii ‘Ohana in Texas!

Thank you to the wonderful Big Island community of photographers that I’ve got to meet along the way and to all of my amazing clients - THANK YOU for choosing me. If you need a recommendation for your next trip to the island I have the best people to recommend you to! We are going to miss you all!

If there is one thing today that I could encourage everyone with, it is this.

Be kind.

To everyone around you. You don’t understand why people are responding to you the way that they are. You don’t know what battles people are facing.

Just be kind. Send a word of encouragement.

Everyone I know has been dealing with something really intense this year. I’ve had my own share of things that are not fun.

Just be kind.

A beautiful sunrise session in Waikoloa. I’m telling you, it’s worth it getting up early!!

Are you a matching outfit family or do you prefer to coordinate?

I send a very detailed style guide to every client and my favorite response is - “I know you recommend these colors and to coordinate, but we bought matching outfits.”

There is a tiny line in my guide that says, I would rather you be yourself and dress for your family and personality than fitting any mold that we typically photograph.

Some families want all the colors and the patterns. There are a lot of photographers that are totally against shooting various different attires. I get it. But I would rather a family wear what they want and if it requires for me to get a little more creative in editing, I will do it.

There are colors I would prefer to shoot over others. Some compliment skin tones better than others. But ultimately, if you feel confident in an outfit - that can make or break a photo quicker than the colors. But that’s just my personal opjnion.

Getting ready for vacation and finally downloaded about 100 photos to share from past galleries because I’m months behind in sharing. Found some gems today! 💕
