Okay story time:

SIX YEARS AGO, my wife and I had the incredible opportunity to capture Katie and Brandon’s engagement session and also book them to shoot their wedding. They were one of those first couples in my wedding career that truly gave me confidence as a photographer.
I was able to build a great relationship with them and their photos were stunning (99% mainly because they are incredible).
Fast forward some time as they were figuring out when they wanted to actually get married. Long story short I got a text from Katie a couple years ago that they ended up eloping (which honestly is very them). I was so bummed because I was dying to take their photos. But at the end of the day all that matters is that you say I do with your bestie.
I kept in touch with them and told them I still owed them some kind of “wedding” photos (selfishly I just wanted to work with them again).
They landed themselves in Colorado Springs which is where my family currently lives. So on a trip to visit them this past July I was able to connect with Katie & Brandon and capture some more photos of them out in the mountains.

One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is when couples take a chance on you and trust you to capture their day.
Taylor and Jack found me from good ol Google and through their venue. They technically had a “destination” wedding since they aren’t originally from Kansas City but live here now due to Jack’s residency. It would be an understatement for me to say I couldn’t wait to be there to work with them. They are such authentic people and so fun to work with.

My first year back teaching is coming to an end. I’m so glad that I got back into this profession. I get the opportunity to meet some amazing students like Athena.
I remember one of the first days of school I talked to her about her Umbrella tattoo from Resident Evil and she was amazed that a teacher knew what it was. This year we chatted about anime, Star Wars, kingdom hearts and her dream of being a photographer. I love getting to know my students and encourage them beyond my classroom. It makes it even more awesome when they let me take their senior photos too!
One more week until these seniors graduate!

It has been just barely over a year since I was able to go to Japan. Such a beautiful country to visit during Cherry Blossom season 🌸 so enjoy some film photos from this trip. (It is crazy that I haven’t shared that many photos!)
It is crazy to think about how much can change in a year too. Since last year I have started doing photography for just my own business so my schedule is way less crazy, I have returned to teaching in the classroom and my wife is about to open up a coffee shop (INSANELY SOON).

Looking forward to what another year around the sun brings!
