The past 6 weeks has been a blur of excitement, tears, laughter, and a whole lotta crazy.
After living in Kansas City for over a decade, we decided it was time to move back to the mountains of North Carolina. The past six weeks have been full of too many things to name- Leaving friends that felt more like family, starting new schools, making new friends, traveling to capture beautiful weddings, traveling to visit beautiful people….
And then last week happened. And we couldn’t have imagined our little mountain town would be hit with one of the worst floods this area has ever seen.
There aren’t words for the devastation that has taken place in the surrounding areas and my heart breaks for people that are still looking for friends and family. At times I feel helpless, but asking for the grace to continue doing just the next thing, whether that’s dropping off water to a friend, or being there just to listen.
People have asked “Do you regret moving back?”
And I confidently respond “Not even a little.”
Watching how my friends, family, neighbors, and community have come together to help and be there for each other is truly like nothing I’ve ever seen.
And while yes, I am so immensely thankful that my family is safe and we currently have all of our immediate needs met. I am also beyond grateful to call Asheville home again. ❤️
Keep praying and help if you can. 🙏
Like I told my 11 year old, we can’t do everything…but we can all do something. ❤️❤️
