On Saturday, September 14th, the Kanab City pool was opened to dogs for the first time ever. The pool was closed to people for the season, but not drained yet, so they decided to do this. I asked if I could come take some photos, and I had a blast! If you ever want to laugh, watching dogs in water will do it.😊 I hope the City does this again.

Happy International Dog Day! I realized I haven't introduced my dog here. Meet Malachi, who was happily munching on his pig ear when I decided to take his photo this afternoon🐶😋🐶 I adopted him last November from - the whole thing started with an amazing chance encounter that I believe my mom helped organize from the other side.💜 Also, note to self, that whole "never say never" thing is true, because I had said more than once that I would never have another dog in my life after my Sammy passed in 2021.

And, yes, Malachi is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - a breed I've loved for years, but from afar. I am so thankful he came into my life.💜🐶💜

I love photographing your pets! For me, it doesn't matter if they're trained or not, I'm patient and will take the time needed to get the shot for you. That said, every so often, I get to photograph an animal who is well trained. In this case, Belgian Malinois Uni's Dagger is more than well trained, and is also incredibly handsome. Put the two together and how could I possibly take a bad photo? With .judd Darlene Judd

Happy International Cat Day! This is my guy, Fitz, the best cat in the Universe to me.😻 He's a rescue Exotic Shorthair, who had been dumped on the streets two times and wound up in two different shelters in northern Utah. While it definitely had an impact on him (to this day, he's food obsessed like no other, lol), he is truly a wonderful, special cat. I'm not glad he was abandoned, but I'm so thankful he came into my life. I can't believe it's been over six years now (and they thought he was six when we adopted him).

Today, I was given the wonderful opportunity to meet two of the people behind an Arabian horse rescue group that I've admired for years. Vera and Erna with Love this Horse, Equine Rescue Inc., had come from California with some of their horses to participate in the Mount Carmel XP Endurance Ride here in southern Utah, not far from where I live. When you follow an organization online, you can only hope they're what they seem to be. I can say in all honesty that not only did Vera and Erna meet my expectations, but they also exceeded them!

I was so impressed by the level of care they give to their horses. After all, it's pretty amazing for a rescue organization to make the effort to train successful endurance horses all in the hopes of making them more adoptable. Some of the horses on this ride had not been handled before coming to Love This Horse. Now, they are calm, confident, well-mannered and a joy to be around.

I haven't posted on my page in a while again (and I need to work on that), but I definitely feel this is something worth sharing. These are all candid shots, as the horses were relaxing in their areas. If you love horses, especially Arabians, and have been looking for just the right one for you, I urge you to reach out to Love This Horse. They could also really use your support as they currently have over 100 horses in their care, and the need for rescue is never ending.

Back in September, I was fortunate to not only have the opportunity to photograph these two handsome guys for a friend, but also receive some much needed dog therapy. The Borzoi is a total sweetheart - good thing he was too big to stuff under my shirt. The Scottish Deerhound was about 4 months old at the time and full of puppy joy!

I know I've been a bit remiss in posting here and it's certainly not from a lack of photos. The past couple of years have been a bit challenging, culminating in the loss of my mom, Nancy, last month. Losing her has turned my world upside down. She wasn't just my mom, she was my best friend. She believed in me and my photography more than I've believed in myself. Knowing that she had that faith in me keeps me going because photography is my one thing. Plus, I know my artistic talent comes from her and I want to honor that.

In an attempt to bring a little beauty to the world, I will work on posting more and hope you all will come along for the journey.💜

Are you a Type A personality who loves active, fun dogs?🐶 Meet BV and Poppy! These two gorgeous girls are located in Kanab, Utah, and are in search of their forever home (southern Utah home preferred, but for the right home, long distance will be considered). 🌺They can be adopted separately.🌺 They are well-loved, but were abandoned with someone who isn't able to continue caring for them. If you're interested in either dog, 🔹please reach out to me via Messenger or leave a response on this post.🔹 I had the honor of meeting and photographing these beauties this past weekend and can vouch for their good natures. They are both sweet, playful and loving dogs who deserve to find a home where they will be cherished.💜

BV (Black Velvet) is a 2-year-old spayed Labrador Retriever, who, like most Labs, is loveable and goofy. She enjoys play time and carrying her ball everywhere in the hopes that you'll throw it for her. Along with Poppy, she lives with cats, small dogs and a teenager without issues. She is super sweet and friendly! She's a cuddler who will make sure to comfort you if you're ever feeling down. She'd make a wonderful therapy dog if that's the direction you'd like to go. She's an extremely good-natured girl who rarely barks - she does get excited if you ask her if she wants to go for a ride and will "scream" with joy!🥰

Poppy is a 1 1/2-year-old spayed German Shepherd. She loves long hikes and play time, and is very smart and friendly! She was raised with cats, two small dogs and a teen, as well as BV, and gets along great with everyone. When out for walks, she displays no reaction to other dogs. She's not only beautiful, but she would absolutely love to have a job that utilizes her brains (search & rescue or agility anyone?).🐕‍🦺

Both dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations. Both need off leash time to run every day. They currently go for hour long hikes each day and would be happy to go twice.
