Recently I learned that this beautiful kupuna of Kāneʻohe has transitioned back to Spirit 🌈✨

104 years young, sharp in mind 🧠💫, joyful in heart 💖, and absolutely unforgettable 🌺

I had the blessing 🙏🏽 of meeting her on August 14, 2024 (when she was 102) while documenting blessing her ʻohanaʻs building 🏡🌿. In just a few precious minutes ⏳💞, she shared stories of growing up here in the islands 🌊🌴—stories filled with warmth 🔥, wisdom 📜, and so much JOY 😄✨.

She was kind 🤍, playful 😆, and simply adorable 🥰.
Both Lāhela and I feel incredibly grateful 🙌🏽 to have crossed paths with her, even for that brief moment in time 💫

May this be a gentle reminder 🌬️ to truly be present 🌈 with one another—whether it’s someone we’ve known our whole lives 👵🏽👴🏽 or someone we’ve just met 🤝✨.

Sometimes we’re gifted only a few minutes ⏱️, sometimes a lifetime ♾️… but what matters most is the love 💕, attention💛, and aloha 🌺 we bring into each moment.
Make them count. Always. ✨🤍

✨ 11/25 • Grateful for the Gatherings ✨

There’s something so powerful about gathering people into one frame — the laughter, the love, the history, the connections… all held together for just a moment in time. 🤍📸✨

I know group photos can feel like organized chaos 😅🙈
People teasing, dragging their feet, hiding behind someone…

But what I’ve learned in my years of documenting life is this:

One day, that image becomes priceless.
Not because everyone is perfectly posed, but because everyone was there.
Together.
Alive.
Connected. 💛🌿🤝

This photo is from my cousin’s vow renewal back in May of 2018 — a beautiful, joy-filled day with generations of family in one space.

💍🌺👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Even though I don’t shoot big weddings anymore, I’ll always make time for a group photo when the moment is right.

Why?

Because these photos become legacy. 📖✨
Proof of love. ❤️
Proof of ʻohana. 🌈
Proof of the season we shared — before everyone grew, shifted, moved, changed. 🌱💫

These are the images we hold onto years later…
the ones that make our hearts swell 💗,
the ones we show the keiki so they know where they come from 👶🏽➡️🌳,
the ones that remind us how deeply we’re woven together. 🌺🫶

🙏🏽DAY 8: Grateful for Timeless Connections ♾️

Some 📖 stories unfold right before your eyes… year after year, moment after moment. ✨

I’ve known Mom and Dad since they were just dating back in the ’90s and life blossomed. 🌸👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
I’m so blessed to have documented these keiki since they were toddlers who are now officially adults❣️

Pulling these photos from my 2018 vault filled me with such deep gratitude. 💛

To witness their children grow 🌱, to see the laughter that still shines just as bright 😄, and to know that these images hold their family’s story — that’s the magic that keeps me doing what I do. ✨📸

Photography isn’t just 🖼️ pictures — it’s a way of holding time still, of keeping love visible through the years. 🕊️💞

🌿 The best part of this journey has ALWAYS been the people — my ʻohana, my friends, my clients who’ve become family. 💛

Whether it’s behind the camera or in front of it, connection is what keeps my heart full and my lens inspired. 🫶🏽📸

Every smile, every hug, every shared laugh reminds me that we’re all just walking each other home — one frame, one moment, one breath of aloha at a time. 🌺💫

🌿 DAY 6: Grateful for the Journey ✨📸💛

Every chapter behind the lens has been its own blessing — every face, every landscape, every story that’s trusted me to hold it. 🌈

For instance, these beautiful souls right here — my nieces and nephew 🫶🏽💕 I’ve been documenting them since they were practically born! 👶🏽 Every time we’re together, every shoot we do, there’s always something new — more laughter 😂, more joy 😍, more love 💖.

They’ve been a special part of my photography journey from the very beginning 🌱 and each session reminds me why I fell in love with capturing life in the first place. 🌞📷

Under this Full Moon in Ta**us ♉️, I’m reminded to pause…

to notice what’s right here — the light, the textures, the quiet blessings I sometimes rush past.

Gratitude isn’t always loud — sometimes it’s the gentle peace that comes when you slow down enough to see the beauty that’s been holding you all along.

Some days, the connection isn’t in a photo — it’s in the feeling. 💞

I’ve been thinking about how photography has connected me to so many hearts through the years… people I may not have met otherwise.

Grateful for the laughter, the conversations, the trust, and the moments that unfold behind the lens.

Every photo I take connects me a little more — to others, to this island, and to my own purpose. 🌈

🌺 DAY 3: Grateful for Inspiration

Inspiration for me is EVERYWHERE and happening all the time! It lives in the smallest, quiet moments — the shimmer on the ocean, a smile, a quiet sunrise or in nature, cultural activities, friends and family who love being of service to the community, organizations who help our communities and cities, beloved animal sentient beings, the list goes on and on…🥰

📻 Iʻm tuning in all the time because I am inspired by LIFE and most of all LOVE! 💞

💖 Who or what inspires you to see the world through grateful eyes? 🌈

📸: The photos featured today were taken back in April 2018 during a private volunteer work day with our ʻohana and friends at Hoʻokuaʻāina, an organization beloved in our islands. We experienced “the magic of laulima (many hands working together), learning the traditional way of cultivating kalo, and make meaningful connections.” It was amazing and sooo much fun! 🌸 DAY 2: Grateful for the Journey

Every great journey begins with a single click 📸✨

I still remember the first time I held a camera — how it felt like holding magic. ✨

I purchased my first DSLR, this sweet Canon A-1 (metal body, OG) camera from my boss in the mid 90s. He was so kind to do a payment plan as I was a young adult, adulting: taking care of my mom, going to college, working a part time job so finances were a bit challenging for me. He understood and knew how excited and passionate I was about photography. ❤️‍🔥📷 I diligently paid him every month until my balance was paid off! Til this day I appreciate his willingness to help me out.

My Canon A-1 was my first camera to catapult me into my professional photography career. 💕
Even though sheʻs no longer in action, I will always LOVE and TREASURE her…🥹🙏🏽
Forever grateful for the journey we started together!

And this journey has been and CONTINUES to be full of light, growth, and aloha… and I wouldn’t trade a moment of it.
